“Two night is not long enough in Rothenburg”

Why anyone would have anything bad to say about this hotel is beyond me. We just visited Rothenburg during our 1 year anniversary trip. We stayed 4 different hotels during our trip across Germany, and the Romantik Hotel Markusturm was by far the best! The staff all speak English very well. Check-in was a breeze and they even gave us a choice of rooms. We ended up with a beautiful room with a large, canopy bed and a huge bathroom. After checking in, the woman at the desk was very helpful guiding us to a restaurant for dinner. Her recommendation was excellent. The next morning at breakfast, the staff was once again very thorough and attentive. The breakfast buffet is okay and very similar to what we received elsewhere. We did have dinner at the hotel the second night and it was by far the BEST meal we had in all of Germany! The soup, the entree and the dessert was delicious!! The hotel is beautiful with such charm! When we travel back to Rothenberg, we will not hestitate to stay at the Romantik Hotel Markusturm again!

Area recommendations
Rothenburg is the most charming, quaint and enjoyable medieval town. We only stopped for two days and wished we had more time to spend there. There's tons of shopping to do for such a small town. And definitely take the night watchman tour!! I can not wait to go back to Rothenburg with my children someday!

“Delightful stay at Hotel Markusturm”

The hotel exterior was as picturesque as could be and quite warm and cozy inside. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the location superb. The restaurant was also quite good, with an elegant and comfortable dining room and a menu of German specialties. My waitress at dinner was a very charming young woman who spoke excellent English. Before going to bed, I opened the window in my room and looked out at the quiet, snowy cobblestone street and felt like I had been carried away to an enchanted village straight out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Quite an extraordinary experience! I hope to return someday.

Area recommendations
The western side of the city contains the most original buildings, undamaged in WWII, as well as the incredibly lovely town square and Jacobskirche.
