GO THERE!!!Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: Warmth of the Staff, the house and the facilities are gorgeous.
Location: Go to Wai-o-Tapu probably a 25 min drive. This is the best park in terms of natural beauty and the Geiser is spectacular.
Probably the best boutique Hotel around! If planning to go to Rotorua this hotel is a must!!

Great place for couples to relaxPosted May 25, 2013
Pros: the staff
Location: Close to downtown Rotorua and many activities
Our experience at the Hamurana Lodge was wonderful and I am so glad we stayed there for two nights. The staff is key in making the Lodge a wonderful place - they are friendly, attentive, and helpful. I haven't received such hospitality in a long time and highly recommend this location for anyone looking to have some R&R.

Hamurana holidayPosted May 18, 2013
Pros: Old home (renovated) with old fashioned appeal. Quiet and relaxed
Location: Would like to have been closer to town
Lovely hostess who looked after us.Comfortable property but fairly isolated and hard to find at night. Not well lighted. Very disappointed visiting the " Bathing Springs" in Rotorua- expensive and ordinary - don't go. Dont miss out on the Thermal Springs an hour away. These were amazing.

Really impressed by both the hotel and the friendliness and service from the staff. Warm welcome when we arrived, and it continued all the way throughout our stay. Lovely big room with comfy bed, nice toiletries, plenty of space outside including hammocks and Gym facilities. Located about 15 minutes drive from downtown Rotorua so you are nearby without the sulphur smells. Nice view across the lake, excellent breakfast. Only gripe was shower pressure a bit low, if that's all you have to worry about life isn't too bad... Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Great spot for the areaPosted Mar 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
From what I found, this is probably the 2nd nicest spot in the Rotorua area. Not a lot of high-end lodging in this area except for the top spot (Treehouse) which is about 3X the cost, but apparently worth it if you have that sort of budget. Service at Hamurana is incredible and beautiful property. Only downsides are rooms are a little dated but still nice and very clean. It is a few miles just outside the CBD, so there is no walking to "attractions" or restaurants but we liked being away on a more farm-like setting.

In Hamurana lodge, you are in a different world where everything is perfect, the quality of service (so good that you sometimes believe you are staying at your best friend's home), the room, the food, the location (although some could prefer to be closer to the smelly Rotorua :))... New Zealand is generally offering high quality while very friendly lodge experience but this one has got something special. Thank you Fred and the team!
