Nice quant

Pros: setting, outside looks, lobby, buffett breakfast
Cons: room was too cheaply done over last renovation
Location: Bethel is cool and hotel sits well, in-- near center of town
Stayed late March, nice old New England town it's a pretty hotel.could be great but room had cheap updates probably numerous years ago. Many signs of under budgetted maintenance, parking on busy ski week ends not adequate. Could have been cleaner but did'nt make me squeemish like a rescent moderatly priced hotel stay, elsewhere. I read a negative review of buffet breakfast but my gf and I thought it was very good and wait staff and host were very nice, and proffesional. I'd stay again it was quant and other places were much more money.

Disappointing but not terrible.

Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Size of room, lack of enough nearby parking, uncomfortable bed.
Location: Close enough to skiing but probably better off on the mountain if going to Sunday River.
We booked a deluxe room with a pull out couch in a walled off area through Expedia for a family of 5. When we arrived the hotel was surprised that we had 5 people and had put us in a 1 room deluxe room for 2 people. After we showed them that Expedia clearly confirmed 5 people, they attempted to accommodate us with 2 rooms that they described as rustic in a separate building. We turned that down since it was cold and on the first floor outside the parking lot, and they wheeled a cot into the deluxe room but it was VERY tight for a family of 5. I would recommend only booking a suite through Expedia. (BTW, I called the hotel directly to confirm the size of the room we had booked on Expedia, but this obviously did not help.) Another issue we had was parking. They run a restaurant at the hotel, but the parking for the restuarant is behind the hotel down a side street, and is unmarked, so restaurant patrons use the hotel parking, which leaves no parking available for guests except to park further away at the restaurant parking. This seems easily fixed with a couple of signs as the restaurant parking is actually closer to the restaurant. Other random issues: Free wifi, almost never worked. Once we returned to our room to find it unlocked after maid service. Beds were uncomfortable. All in all it is a nice old hotel with some charm - emphasis on old - but certainly not luxury and they have some things they need to fix.
