small resort, very clean and staff very friendly and go out of their way to assist with whatever is needed and to ensure you have a great time. There is lots to do on property, kayaks, paddleboards, paddle boats, hobie cat, snorkeling, glass bottom boat, snorkeling and beginning dive instructions. There are three pools, swim up bars, a water slide, 2 beaches - one in a small cove so not a lot of wave action, the second beach a bit more secluded and a little deeper, up to shoulders during high tide. Food was fabulous on the buffet as well in the restaurants on the property. Some negative things - check in was not smooth, we had to wait over 4 hours to get our rooms and still did not get rooms close to friends we were traveling with and had to change rooms again as one room needed two beds. The front desk was not very accommodating in the mean time and they kept telling us 15 mins. Activities are not announced over the main speakers and clocks are hard to locate or don't exist. If you don't carry a phone with you, you miss things that would have been fun to do. The rooms only have I-phone chargers that also operate the clock. Without the phone charging, no clocks in the room. We did not take our cell phones as we wanted to completely disconnect from work and found it frustrating we missed things since clocks weren't around. The mattresses were very firm!!!! more than expected.

We just returned from our trip yesterday and had an amazing time at jewel. We stayed in room 1017 with the plunge pool. It was worth the $100 a night upgrade I negotiated at the front desk. My two teenagers used the plunge pool each day and well as we took the baby in it daily. Also the shower had 6 shower heads and was very spacious. The room itself is basic but was fine. The food at all the restaurants had hit and misses like most places you go. We enjoyed the buffet and the jade Samaria the most. The water park was a lot of fun and we used it daily. All the outside kids was a bit much but we just had a positive attitude about it and jumped in the lazy river with them all. I recommend jewel and would definitely go back.

The hotel is nice, food is great, service is good. But the entertainment Crew is not creative at all , just a DJ by the pool and the crew walking back and forth. It needs more activities like the ones at the other grand bahia principe like in Mexico or Dominican Republic.

Overall, I highly recommend this resort. The staff is friendly and the grounds are beautiful. Food is generally good. There's always someplace to get a drink. It's very big, so as long as you don't mind some walking, it's perfect. I would love some more separation between kids and adults, but other than that, I can't say that I have any major complaints.
