Beautiful setting, but need to improve breakfastPosted Jul 24, 2013
Very clean, large room with comfy bed (however the pillows were hard and lumpy, need to re-new them). Huge bathroom with bath and shower and lots of space for toiletries. We had a south facing room overlooking the golf course which was a beautiful aspect, however the weather was hot and sun had been shining in there all day so it was absolutely stifling hot (were told no fans were available for the rooms apparently). We opened the windows during the evening so it had cooled a little by the time we went to bed. Hotel evening meal was good, although breakfast was terrible. It looked like the chef had prepared it the night before and the staff had put it under the heat lamps at 7am, by 9.30am we were served stewed tea served directly from one big teapot, on the buffet was scrambled egg soup and what appeared to be left overs from yesterday's dinner as they were rather dried up. Coupled with the attitude of the young girl who clearly didn't want to be asked anything, it brought down the whole experience unfortunately.

good facilitiesPosted Jun 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was well located close to the A1 but surrounded by fields and it's own golf course. Close to a lovely village with a good pub. The room was clean and a good size and we had a lovely view over the golf course. At breakfast there wasn't as much choice as some hotels we have stayed in, but what they had was well cooked.

Handy location for A1Posted May 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
We needed a stop over on a journey from northumberland to suffolk & also wanted to see relatives in Northants. This hotel was the perfect location. Despite the hotel hosting a big event we were quietly situated & enjoyed a peaceful night. We met friends for dinner at an excellant pub in Clipsham which was another reason for choosing this hotel. We would happily stay again as it represented verygood value for money.

Pros: The room and views
Cons: Inadequately staffed bar
Location: Brilliant and really quiet
Location brilliant. Views from room could not be faulted. Room really comfortable and warm. Facilities in the room excellent including the shower which was a delight. Would rate 5 except for our experience in the bar, when not enough staff were available to serve, which meant waiting quite some time, and the person in front of me was so frustrated by the wait that he gave up. Girl serving did apologise for the wait, but one young man behind the bar seemed totally bored and disinterested - perhaps just a bad day! Food was excellent quality, but the hot food was only warm bordering cold by the time we got it in the evening - breakfast however was not a problem. Staff on reception were excellent, especially the older lady the morning when we left. Would certainly visit again and hope to better the experience.

Excellent hotel. Superb room with view over golf course. Full English breakfast very good. Bar food and drink reasonably priced. Good countryside location a few miles from Rutland water. Two 18 hole golf courses and a 9 hole short course on site.

Great Place to StayPosted Jul 27, 2012
Pros: The Food, The Room, The Location
Cons: Nothing unfavourable about this Hotel
Location: The Location suited us perfectly for overnight stay en-route to Norfolk
We stayed overnight en-route to Norfolk but would have been delighted to have stayed longer. Superb location, Evening meal was excellent and Breakfast was even better. We will certainly use the Greetham Valley Hotel every time we're in this area.
