More than Adequate

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: breakfast/cleanliness
Cons: Bed was very firm
Location: N/A
Because we were in the city for personal reasons and not holidays we were looking for clean, comfortable accomodations not too far from the city. It exceeded our expectations. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. And the breakfast was fabulous!

Convenient Location for this Trip

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Location was convenient for me and actually was close to a nice walk on paths and on the rocks by the shore.
Cons: Needs a complete tear down and rebuild, rotting wooden structure and very tired looking inside. Not at all like a "Quality Chain Hotel".
Location: Convenient on BC Highway 17 in Saanichton, close to airport, 20 minutes to Victoria, near walking paths at shore.
I was travelling to Saanichton for business for 2 days and this was close to my clients offices. It was also a Quality hotel and I have been comfortable with this chain previously. I was surprised at the state of the place, put me in mind of a "Fawlty Towers" episode ! Rotting olde English looking place that had a "smell" to it the minute you walked in. No doubt from the groggy old dog curled up on a bed behind the counter.

Family time

Posted May 25, 2014
Pros: The hotel is located very well fr us . The church where the service was held only a few Kim's away. It was handy to have somewhere to eat on premises
Cons: Wish all hotels would install higher toilets. Always feel as if I'm going to sit on the floor.
Location: There are two gas stations very nearby, a cold beer and wine store on the property, and a White Spot restaurant across the highway.
This was second stay in two weeks. We we there over Mother's Day to visit my 101 year old Mom. She unfortunately had a massive stroke and died a week later.mso our second stay was to attend her funeral. We had the same room as the first visit which somehow was a comforts staff treated us well.the hotel

A hotel with great decor

Posted May 21, 2014
Cons: The WiFi service could be improved
Location: The hotel is near Victoria Airport, Butchart Gardens and Sidney harbour
The hotel has great decor with an old English Inn motif, and a great English style pub

Nice clean comfortable rooms. Very spacious. Twenty minutes from Victoria's harbourfront, 5 minutes to the airport.

Don't expect much

Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: No much
Cons: Everything
Location: Absolutely nothing around. One gas station, a McDonalds, a White Spot and a trailer park.
No air conditioning and the of course it was hot that night and loud traffic. Chips in the vending machine were expired (over a year). Clean comfy bed but couldn't enjoy it because of the heat. Staff were virtually non-existent.

Reliable As always

Posted Mar 7, 2014
Cons: It might be time to exchange some of the older air conditioner/heater units.
Location: If you're renting a car you will like the two adjacent gas stations where one can fill up the car before returning to the airport.
I stay at the Waddling dog once a month for a night, initially because it is located exactly five minutes from Victoria's airport. The service and rooms are always as expected - friendly, clean and quiet. The motel offers character and warmth in its staff and appearance. And yes, there really is a 'Waddling Dog' - just look right behind the counter.

Had a bit of trouble with the heater, but finally figured it out...everything was clean and quiet(on a weeknight). Staff very nice and friendly. No barking from resident dog. The continental breakfast was good. Ate lunch in pub, service and food was good. Very tudor (Old English)style design. Could be brighter.

Not what we thought

Posted Jan 2, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: the place needs to be updated.
Location: the location was good for us as we needed a place in Saanichton.
We lived in the area all our lives and book at the Waddling Dog because we had never seen a room. we thought it would be quant. It was to a degree but for the price it was not quaint enough nor modern enough. It was clean and staff were friendly but there were no extras and we could have gotten equal at a better price.

We had two rooms, one was super hot and the heat would not go off and the other was so cold we kept our jackets on. Other than that it had an old fashioned atmosphere.
