“Over rated”

The motel was OK but more like a cheap economy motel than a three star hotel as it was rated by Expedia when I was making the purchase. Overpriced as well. If you need to stay by the university it may be your best choice. Otherwise there are many other options that are better.

“very nice for the price”

I have only one serious complaint. Both times I wanted to take a shower, the water was lukewarm at best. I need a hot shower! Otherwise, everything was pretty nice at this place. The bed was really comfortable, the bedding were high-end and new, as was the carpet. Everything was clean and smelled nice. I would definitely stay here again.

“Not Impressed”

I chose this hotel because of the location and price. The hotel's location was very convienent: a block from downtown Davis and the farmer's market. The room was adequate, but not much more. The door to the room was difficult to open and close because the bed was in the way.

“Great location and comfortable room.”

We stayed at the Best Western University Lodge for its proximity to UC Davis. We were very impressed with the room! Sparkling clean, very comfy furniture and a very comfortable bed. Very nice complimentary breakfast as well. We will definitely go back to stay there on an annual basis to attend the Western States Masters Track & Field Meet.

Davis is a great town...we loved being close to the Farmers Market in the park and some great restaraunts.

Take the family to Davis Farmers Market near-by...great food, crafts and fresh produce!!

“Great Location”

This hotel is located just a couple of blocks away from Downtown Davis and a block away from the UC Davis campus. What more could you ask for? In Downtown there are all kinds of local shops and a variety of ethnic restaurants.

“Minimal at best.”

There is not much to say about this place except that I would not recommend it nor would I stay there again. It is bare-bones minimum, teensy to the point of extreme discomfort, and with no amenities whatsoever. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows cheap and also uncomfortable, the carpet and curtains tacky, etc. etc. It was really more like a flophouse than a normal motel.

Area recommendations
The University area is fine, but I would search out a better inn or hotel, not a chain motel.

“Well kept and convenient”

I stayed at the BW University Lodge for a week to attend a professional seminar at UC Davis Extension. It is extremely convenient to both the school and the small downtown area with plenty of restaurants nearby. You can easily walk everywhere (although it seems like everyone in Davis is on a bike...). The hotel itself was well-maintained and - except for the air conditioner - quiet.

Getting there
It's easy to take either the supershuttle ($23) or the regular bus (~$2) from the Sacramento Airport. You can also pick up a car in Davis (Hertz and Enterprise will come get you at the hotel, but you have to drive back with them to their location to fill out the paperwork).
