Great Mid-Size hotel in downtown Sacto

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Rooms are very good. Bathroom is very good. Restaurant is excellent for snacks, drinks or full meals.
Cons: For such a lovely hotel, the towels were awful -- old, thin, and rough. Very surprising.
Very pleasant. Except for the towels, everything was well done.

Pros: STAFF WAS HELPFUL
Cons: HONOR BAR DID NOT WORK HOTEL WAS NOISY, SO NOISY I ASKED TO HAVE MY ROOM CHANGED
HOTEL IS QUITE OLD AND DARK BUT REFURBISHED NICELY. I ENDED UP HAVING TWO ROOMS BECAUSE THE FIRST WAS TOO NOISY, THE HONOR BAR WAS LOCKED AND INACCESSIBLE. THE SECOND ROOM WAS SMALL BUT NICE, BUT THE BATHROOM AMENTIES WERE MISSING IN PART. THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE COFFEE MAKER WERE WAS THE TV GUIDE. SEEMS LIKE THEY COULDN'T QUITE GET IT RIGHT

SAC business trip

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: friendly, clean and helpful
Location: I was there on business so no sites for me.
I was in Sacramento for a business trip and prefer staying somewhere I feel safe traveling alone and has an excellent restaurant downstairs and The Citizen Hotel fits the bill every time.

Interesting old-style hotel in Sacramento

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Beds were great, as was old-world feel.
Cons: Give free wireless.
Location: Some excellent restaurants, although the more "hip" area of restaurants is quite a bit further away. The Dive Bar is kind of fun.
I stayed for three nights at the Citizen Hotel. It has a very old feel to it, but with up-to-date amenities and facilities. Staff seems bit stoned, but were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and I had a view of the California capital building. The clientele are apparently usually politicians and lawyers. It is very close to the downtown walking area along K street, as well as the capital and the convention center. However, I had two concerns. First, charging for wireless is pretty petty, given the relatively high rates at the hotel. It is just annoying when higher-end hotels do this . . . so annoying that I never pay. I can always get free wireless other ways. Second, and more importantly, the area around the hotel does not always feel that safe at night. There is a sleazy liquor store and bar on the same intersection that attracts a lot of steer people and was a concern.

Excelent staff!

Posted Aug 11, 2014
I booked this hotel as part of our wedding anniversary trip. When I want into the hotel's website I realized they offered special packages for occasions like mine, I attempted to contact the in house reservation specialist on several occasions without success. This made me a little hesitant about my reservation. Upon our arrival the hotel staff was excellent, made ever effort to accommodate our requests. We sure felt at home. The staff made our stay memorable.

Nice hotel, terrible location.

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: We had a really nice room but naturally no view. Pleasant entrance lobby and the valet boys instantly opened the door.
Cons: We didn't particularly like the restaurant. It was very very noisy when busy, and it isn't very attractive.
Location: Although the immediate location is rather run-down, it is only a short walk to the historic old Sacramento, which made for a very good day out.
The hotel is itself is very smart, valet parking is essential due to run down area. Most other properties are either empty, boarded up, or 'bail bonds'/pay-day loans shops. We walked to the Capitol on Sunday morning and, whilst we felt safe enough, it wasn't pleasant.

Top notch hospitality

I want to immediately give a shout out to Kristin and Dan of the Citizen Hotel staff. Dan was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was so helpful and simply the best! Kristin was the first person to greet me once I arrived along with my bike. She is simply one of the most beautiful person I have met inside and out. She gave me advice of routes to take on the American River and spots to check along the river. Another reason I can see myself coming back and reserving a stay

Perfect place to stay!

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness and the space in the hotel room. Loved the red chairs.
Cons: There isn't much to improve on.
Location: We love the location. You can walk along Capital street and view the Capital with lots of restaurants near by.
We just loved everything about the hotel. It's a unique place to stay while visiting Sacramento.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jun 24, 2014
The hotel and the room was really nice and comfortable. The room came with very nice bathrobes and a Keurig coffee maker. The only thing that I thought was missing was having a microwave in the room.
