I would recommend an inside room as the street gets noisy. Breakfast isn't included but well worth the price.

“Stayed on our honeymoon”

The hotel is beautiful - especially the courtyard and the bar and restaurant. We got a cloister room that had a window overlooking the courtyard. It was well worth the extra charge. We stayed here for the first two nights of our honeymoon because we wanted a unique spot. The staff was great - the only problem we had was that there were some loud guests on Friday night. The place is so peaceful most of the time, but they were loud well into the night. Other than that, we really enjoyed our visit - this is a great place to stay to drive around Provence.

“Very Good Value Hotel in a Beautiful 16th Century (for the most part) Monastery”

This old Monastery complex is stunning. Their restaurant is frequently sold out, so when reserving a room, also make a dinner reservation at the restaurant--though there are other good restaurants in the town (St-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume). The "Standard" and "Traditional" rooms are a tad smallish, but perfectly adequate for two persons. Their are no English-language TV channels available, but there are enough French satellite/cable channels that occasionally show undubbed USA cop shows (Law & Order and CSI reruns, etc.). The hotel and the city are convenient to Marseille and its airport, and if you'll be renting a car and driving around and sightseeing in Provence, this is a great location. And Expedia had notified the hotel of all our trip data and prepayments, so checking in and out was quick and easy. The hotel has onsite parking, but you have to pay 15 Euros/day.

“Beautiful historical hotel”

This hotel is a lovely old historical place, the rooms are spacious and clean. The resturant in the courtyard was lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. If you want to leave early (ie before 7am)make sure you book out the night before, we had trouble with getting a staff member to help particularly as we do not speak French.

“charming place....”

for those who enjoy an historical setting. Rooms are not very large but extremely clean, bathrooms entirely renovated. Great breakfast underneath the arcades. Cons: No AC. it was fairly noisy because of birds (crows in particular) that live in the courtyard. Your car should be parked inside of the hotel, the local provencal market takes over the whole village, and you may get stuck (like me) the entire morning..

“Nice”

We stayed 5 nights. The hotel has real character and and amazing courtyard, as it is part of a large church which draws a few tourists to the town. Saint Maximin la Saint Baume is ok but does not have heaps of Provencal charm as you might hope.
