So the positives for this hotel are that the staff are really lovely and are very willing to help. The rooms are fabulous and clean and they gave a lovely bottle of champagne and a basket of fruit on our arrival which was a lovely touch. The beds are comfortable and the walk in shower is wonderful. The breakfasts are great with a huge variety of healthy to not so healthy. This is a wonderful business/conference facility.
The negatives of this hotel are, the main historic hotel is currently just a shell, there is no pool and nowhere outside to sit and relax. The only area where this could be possible is outside the breakfast restuarant which shut at 10.30am everyday and the sprinklers were on the grass making this impossible. The building work started at 8am every day and was very noisy. The hotel informed us the week before travel that the pool wasn't ready, they said it would be ready in October, they forgot to mention which October - the work is not scheduled to finish until October 2014! They arranged for us to go to the Therme to use their pool with transport laid on, however the Therme doesn't have a pool. We felt we were misled by the hotel as we had a 3 way conversation with them and Expedia before we went, there is no mention on their website of the extent of renovations and all this was known when we booked our holiday in early March by the hotel but they waited until it was impossible for us to book elsewhere and then did not give us the full facts.
