The resort is in a very nice location, very spacious and the outdoor is beautiful and well maintained. However, the hotel staff need a lot of training for customer service and communication skills. The towels in the room were faded and some of them had stains.

Very good overall. Beach was good Only issue was if you wanted to go out to the city of salalah . It was a good 20 to 30 mins drive away. Apart from that no issues.

Nice looking resort but not 5 star standard.
The staff is amazing they are very helpful and polite. It’s a beach resort but they did not advertise that their beach is closed during offseason because water is unsafe to swim this is information you would like to know when booking a beach resort especially when you pay extra for a beach view. There is an available beach 5 minutes away that the resort provides transportation to. The bar sells alcoholic beverages at set times by Oman law which is inconvenient but not their fault. Room service is the worst I’ve ever experienced it takes over an hour to receive anything, I ordered only beverages and it still took over an hour after calling twice nothing was done about it I was told both times that the items are on the way but no compensation or care by the resort. The resort was half full and both my orders was not at peak times so why the long wait. Lots of construction going on the beach I’m assuming because it’s not peak season. No activities for guest on the resort I stayed 4 days over the weekend and nothing to do or see it was very boring all they could offer was a nightclub off site. Saturday morning a big bike race was happening in Salahah the resort did not warn us that roads are closed even gate exiting the resort is closed we had to drive around off road. They did not provide transportation to airport because they said I have to book 48 hours in advance which I requested a week in advance but no one answer me when I email. Food and drinks are very expensive.

The beach was absolutely "stand out". The food was good to very good. The buildings were well kept and the rooms modern and all facilities were working. The draw backs included the pathways were shared by speeding motorized vehicles, the staff were overly enthusiastic about keeping people in there groups (by all inclusive etc) and, there was extensive building going on next door! Over all worth a visit but beware Canadians,,,, a cheap beer is about $18!!

The BEACH. Wow .... probably one of the best that i have been to. Soft sand crystal clear water, shallow enough to walk a fair way out. Amazing sunsets. The resort is beautiful and the staff amazing, their friendliness and willingness to go the extra mile made our stay excellent. Cant comment on the food as we only had breakfast here, we had a rental car so wanted to explore the local area. The location is great close to archaeological sites suharam home to queen of sheba, also naturals sites like mugsayl beach and wadi darbat. Beautiful we will be returning here at some point again!

I love the fact this resort is located a few kilometres east of Salalah as it just removes it from the congestion of a city. I am very fond of the appearance of the buildings and the wide range of facilities on offer. Dining is a pleasant experience as there are a wide range of options and the staff are super friendly and go out of their way to assist guests.

This hotel is rated as a 5 star property. I would rate it as 4 star. The room we stayed in was spacious, beautiful and clean. Staff were really great and responded to all our requests. The beach is lovely with gray-white sand. The surf is really rough and not suited for swimming during the time we were there (October). The red warning flag was present every day. I understand during other months it is mild. There is a pool but we didn't use it. The beach chairs are made of flimsy plastic and moldy. The cushions have bird droppings on them. Chairs should be replaced and maintained better. There was no staff to bring drinks or food to us as is custom at 5 star properties. There was a pool bar to get your own. The breakfast was adequate but lacked high-end food choices that should come with a 5-star property. Room service and food in general at the restaurants is very expensive. We ate at Silk Road one evening where the food is really excellent. They spray powerful insecticide every day to kill mosquitoes. Men wear gas masks and don't have adequate clothing to do this dangerous work. Our room smelled like insecticide. Landscape workers from other countries work long days in the hot sun. Can travel companies negotiate better labor practices with the hotels with which they do business?

Another wonderful stay
Always a great place to stay. The rooms are impeccably clean and well appointed. The breakfast buffet has a great selection of tasty items. As always the staff are friendly and service prompt. The hotel is in a marina area with varied shops and swimming. We are never disappointed to stay at Rotana.

It is an outstanding quiet place you can really rest at . Super clean and beautiful. Though located in the middle of nowwhere so to go to the city you need to order a super expensive cab (50USD). Meals are also far overpriced (eg. 32USD per breakfast).

Offseason
Booked seaview, did not get same and could only get changed next day. Lost item in room, even if described and told exactly where it was, they said not found. Besides these annoying errors, the staff was friendly and it is a nice place, even when we went out of season. Seems like they might have felt it was offseason so they could relax.

Hotel rooms were really nice modern and worth the five star rating. Staff and reception and baggage guys were great giving a tour of the resort. It was eid while we were the beach restaurant was buffet only which was expensive compared with the normal menu. Dress code was applied for the Silk Road restaurant which I think is over kill considering it is one of the only restaurants in a large half empty resort. Beach is closed “due to currents” this may be true as waves were large but I think this is due to clearing seaweed and under occupancy of the hotel. Stayed for three days and this was enough as there isn’t much to do in the area and the resort has some closed restaurant and areas.

We really enjoyed our stay and felt that we were well looked after by the courteous staff who were attentive to our needs. The room was very clean, cozy and a good size. The hotel itself looked quite picturesque. There were lots of nice touches to make our stay all the more enjoyable. Only slight problem was that the beach needed some cleaning we felt and that there was some construction work being done nearby.

Hot Resort on Arabian Sea
Magnificent 5-start resort right on the Arabian Sea. Just getting going in Oman but emulating what you'd expect in Hawaii. Opened in 2014. Sprawling Complex with private beach and Life guard and very large Swimming pool too. See photos of the campus. I parked my SUV under a roof in their lot. I drove to Yemen for a full day trip (3 hours to the border). Lots to see in town. In Salalah near airport is a bazaar with incredibly low prices on local crafts and such.

The hotel campus is beautiful, but other than that our stay there was miserable. The humidity level inside the room was high, our bed always felt wet, and the whole place smells like rotten damp clothes. Eventually this humidity and smell got to our clothes! The resort is too pricy, restaurants are expensive and apply high taxes, plus the location is far from the city, thus the taxis charge too much! Finally, the service is below mediocre. sometimes they fail to answer when we call Guest Services. Because the resort is big, we ask them to drive us to between our room and the lobby, the waiting time can get much.

Disappointing experience
It turned out to be a very disappointing experience here, we had a 2 hour wait to get our rooms opened and then we got it opened but we didn't have a key for the room and had to leave the door opened. They then gave us another room the next day super late into the day. The amenities were also poor with the hair dryer sparking up and before I got an electrical shock. Overall, I wouldn't recommend.

Beautiful Salalah!
This hotel was a gorgeous place for a relaxing getaway. It has a beautiful beach with absolutely stunning sunsets. The rooms were clean and well-kept. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had an oceanfront room (block7) and it was very quiet with a lovely view. There were enough loungers by the pool and tons at the beach. The staff at the breakfast buffet work hard and the food was good. Most tables are only for 2, so finding one for my group of friends was occasionally a challenge. The food and service at the Silk Road restaurant was outstanding. We ate there several times during our stay. The pool restaurant at lunchtime had good food but extremely slow service. It was also a little strange that there was no pool service as is the custom for most resorts of this style and in this region. We had an amazing half day tour with Azuz from @salalah4tourist He is local and knows the area so well. He took us on one of the most fun tours I've ever done. Driving through mountains, seeing/driving on/swimming at two beaches, petting camels roaming on the mountains, trying camel meat from a local place, shisha, etc. beautiful experience. I highly recommend. We wanted to do a snorkeling tour too but no local companies would do this. They were only doing diving trips. Great resort, beautiful place to visit. There is nothing really at all around, which is peaceful but tricky if you want to get out of the resort. I really definitely worth a visit!

Been There Done That!!!
The hotel is run down and needs major renovation in the rooms. The first room we stayed in the first three nights the electric went out and the phone was not working and requested a second room. Unforturnately, it was not much better in cleanliness and smell. The bathroom leaked and caused problems going to the toilet as well as safety issues. The balconies were dirty, and had bird waste on the furniture and living space. The level of service appears that they area under staffed from checking in at the front desk to ordering room service. Trying to get room service was near impossible for them to answer the phone, getting the order correct and delivery. The trash on the beaches was awful, trash and waste washed up and there was cleanup. The path out to the ocean trash was overflowing in the cans. There was a restaurant near the pool and beach and there was a waitress named Lenie to make it pleasant to our five day stay.

The hotel was nice and clean with great breakfast.
Check in was very slow. I had booked for 2 double beds on Expedia, and when I got to reception they wanted to give me a king sized bed (I was staying with a girl friend). It took some time for the reception to find me another room. Then she wanted to charge me for the room although I had already paid on Expedia. Again, took her some time to figure that out. Very slow check in process. Otherwise, the hotel and food were excellent. Quite a strong smell from the beach area (not pleasant)

We arrived in salalah for a relaxing weekend getaway but found we were constantly frustrated with the level of service at this hotel. Upon arrival we were frustrated at the amount of time it took to be greeted by a staff member. We were ignored by the men working at the door and no one even offered to take our luggage or direct us where to go. After finding our way up to reception with our luggage, a friendly female staff member checked us in. Then she sent us back to the entrance to wait for a buggy to take us to our room on the beachfront. After waiting about ten minutes, she came back out and explained there was no transportation to take us to our room so she guided us to our room herself which was pretty far away from the lobby. We carried our bags. As we entered the deluxe oceanfront room we booked, we were overwhelmed by the fresh paint fumes which were very, very strong. We soon noticed that the floor was filthy with dust; most likely from the painting and we had to wash our feet off and wear slippers. Our balcony was missing patio chairs and the mini bar was non existent. Chairs were brought to the room and the floor cleaned following our requests. However, the mini bar was not stocked as we were promised. Basically, having both travelled extensively to many 5 star hotels in the past, we were shocked that this Rotana is rated a 5 star hotel. We experienced too much miscommunication and too many disappointments during our stay to ever consider returning.

Nice hotel with terrible smell!!
The hotel is nice, rooms are comfortable but terrible Sewege smell was filling the place even inside the rooms at night!! The hotel staff is saying it is coming from the sea but i was moving allover the coast for two days and the smell was only in the hotel!! Really don't know... but away from this everything was ok.
