"Great Hotel"
Hotel was a bit out of the way but once we figured the metro and buses, things went better. The hotel staff was very helpful and had very modern and beautiful interior. The price was very good and I would stay again, just wish the bed was a little bit more comfortable but overall we had a great stay while travellingin to celebrate our anniversary.

"Madrid"
A 3 night / 4 day stay in Madrid. Our first visit and it will not be our last. The city is very easy to navigate either by foot or on the metro. The Madrilenos are friendly and as one of our goals was to practice our Spanish they were patient and clearly spoken and more than wiling to help us get it right. While it is important to visit all the tourist sites we prefer to eat and drink with the "real" locals wherever we go. On the whole we achieved this and had some wonderful food and very reasonably priced wine. We found the service in one restaurant in Plaza Mayor rather off hand and the food not cheap nor more importantly good.

"I hope I get a chance to stay here again!"
I loved this hotel and with its querky artwork festooned over many of the walls I will never forget the hotel that I stayed at in Madrid (unlike all the other generic hotels that I have stayed at on city breaks). The staff are friendly, the hotel is impeccably clean, the breakfast tasty and plentiful, the bed comfortable and the bar prices very reasonable – what more could you want?

My room was very neat, well organized, and very comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and happy to help out with taxis and recommendations on restaurants and shops. The hotel garden was a very nice place for a drink before heading out for dinner in the evening. The location was convenient too. Ciebeles is very close as is el Gran Cafe Gijon. I would stay there again.

Pocket Guide: Madrid Salamanca Independent Hotels

North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.
