Dirty HotelPosted Dec 16, 2013
The hotel in the general areas was nice but room 125 was not so clean. The carpets were stained and dirty looking the room had a bunch of ants on the counters and the tables and in the bed. We told the staff and they never offered to change our room. So I said can you spray they said yes. Not sure if they did. Would not stay there again

Wonderful staff,caring,helpful,efficient. A team!Posted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: Everything! Wish corporate would help with upgrades similar to 4th floor decor.
Cons: Upgrade decor similar to the warmth I experienced in room 419. Carpet on 1st was lux& soft. Better signage out front-brighter
Location: Excellent...can walk for shopping, groceries,or personal care items. Short drive to downtown & hospital.
In town for family issues-had to extend stay. The staff was supportive and kind. Felt safe and really cared for. Couldn't imagine going through this anywhere else. Good food everyday, lots of fresh coffee, cheerful staff that worked as a team and were genuinely interested in my situation. Have travelled a lot for work and pleasure, and, while being an older facility, it was clean, fresh and home-like. Many stores & shops close by for essentials. Pool and spa wonderful after a long trip. A diverse & interesting group of travelers, some repeat customers, staff handles everyone with respect & dignity.

UnderperformedPosted Nov 17, 2013
Pros: It was a place to lay my head an the price.
Cons: The facilities are beginning to show their age, time to renovate.
I was disappointed in the WiFi strength where my room was (Rm 123), for a place that advertises free WiFi they should have enough Access Points to provide a solid signal strength to the entire hotel; it was very weak in my room and also the exercise room. The free breakfast also was somewhat of a bummer as they didn't have much of a variety, I had a couple cinnamon rolls since I didn't see anything I really liked. Fresh eggs with some sausage, bacon, and hashbrowns would have been nice.

Pros: The location was the best thing because it was near the places we needed to be.
Cons: NEEDS to be refered.
Seemed to be a place that was once nice. Much defered maintenance. It also needs a good cleaning.

Nice but datedPosted Nov 11, 2013
Pros: Staff, quiet, breakfast.
Cons: Needs to be spruced up; overdue for renovation.
Location: Convenient for anything in the south side of Salem. Easy to find.
Our room was on the "First" floor. That turned out to be sort of a daylight basement. On the other hand, it was very quiet, and quite roomy, for the price - really more of a small suite, with a couch and real desk as well as a king-sized bed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean - two essentials, in my view. But we last stayed in this hotel 20 years ago, an they don't seem to have done much renovation in the intervening years. It all just seemed a bit worn. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I especially give high marks to the woman running the breakfast room. She was cheerful, attentive and helpful to every guest who came in. The free breakfast selection was limited: biscuits and gravy, pastries, fruit, cereal, and make-your-own waffles. It met our needs and gave us what we needed before getting back on the road. Overall, I would call the Phoenix Inn on South Commercial just OK. The staff and quiet push it into the pleasing category. I wouldn't want to spend a vacation there, but for a good night's sleep while you are on the road, it was a good choice.

A little off I-5 but nice!Posted Nov 1, 2013
Location: Within walking distance to Walgreens and Trader Joes.
Very big room with a little couch and double sinks. Bed and pillows were comfy and clean and there was a flat screen TV.

Late arrival, early departurePosted Oct 6, 2013
My husband and I came to this hotel the night we got married prior to leaving for our honeymoon. When we first arrived, there was no one aground. We had to call the number on the sign to get the front desk person to come check us in. At first he couldn't find our reservation, but once he found it he was friendly and got us on our way quickly. We have a nice room for the evening. The highlight of the hotel is by far the continental breakfast! This is among the best I've ever seen. We could choose from waffles, DIY breakfast burritos, cereal, and assorted breakfast pastries. Some of the other guests at the breakfast were rather annoying but the breakfast it's self was very good. It was a great start to our honeymoon.

PleasurePosted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: The rooms were spacious and clean. Beds were so comfortable. Everything we needed was within walking distance or a very short drive.
Cons: I don't think anyone can do anything about it but the only thing I could find wrong with it was we could hear other people in there rooms or walking.
Location: There are several restaurants close by and shopping.
Our stay was wonderful! I only wish we had more time there.
