Hotel etwas außerhalb von Salem Downtown

Posted May 24, 2015

Disappointing

Posted May 12, 2015
Cons: New furniture, new blanket, new carpet, new toilet, new TV, more channels
The hotel was very sold out due to a local event. We waited 10 minutes to check in because the staff was busy sorting out a situation with other customers. They did offer complimentary breakfast which wasn't impressive either. We were assigned to a handicapped room even though we did not ask for it. It was dark, no central AC, small, and aged. The mattress was too soft. TV was CRT type and only a few local channels. I'd avoid this hotel next time I visit Salem. Same neighborhood we saw a few other hotels that looked newer.

Not a good one. Called to tell them we would be checking in late and they gave our room away. Said they upgraded us to a king suite. It was just a handicap room that was supposively just cleaned because we had to wait for it to be cleaned at 8:39 pm. Finally get room keys and the shower and toilet had hair and dirty in them. The sheets on the bed had stuff on them. We had another room and it wasn't very clean either. Both rooms had dust bunnies around the edges of carpet and on the stands.

Cons: The fitness room is not stocked with the advertised amenities - no yoga mats. The grill is under-decorated and the food is undistinguished.
Check in was slow and conducted with other staff making noise nearby. The food was marginally okay.

Disappointing Stay

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
Red Lion has really gone downhill. It used to be the place to stay in the 90's. But they haven't changed. The rooms are now old and out-of-date. We still had a 30" low-definition TV in our room. What hotel does not have flat screen TVs and HD? The bathroom was a cave with only a small, overhead light. And it wasn't even over the shower. When the curtain was closed, we could barely see anything in the dark. The room was two floors above the lounge area. Around midnight, people from the lounge spilled out into the parking lot and started partying and yelling. I had to call down to the main desk three times over a 45-minute period before they finally got them to leave. We didn't get to sleep until after 1:00am. While the walls are solid, the ceiling is not. We heard every step the people in the room above us took, including when they talked. It was like being in a basement of an old house. We will definitely not stay here again and will not stay in Red Lion until they update their hotels to the 21st century.

Small hotel room in Oregon Capital

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Close to locations we intended to see. Relatively inexpensive nightly rate.
Cons: Practically everything
Location: Near to Lancaster Mall and Chemeketa Community College. We saw two movies while there for the five days. Drove through the area around McMinnville
We were provided a room with a handicap shower with a sink outside the bathroom that would be too tall for someone in a wheel chair. The people in the room above ours was up pacing the room several times each night and feet pounding the floor waking us each time. The bed was too soft for our backs and we woke each morning hurting. Very limited parking availability due to shared parking at this facility. No pool or Jacuzzi at this location, but heard there is a dry sauna available. The plastic chain in the shower slides on the floor and is therefore unsafe for handicapped persons.
