Small hotel room in Oregon Capital

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Close to locations we intended to see. Relatively inexpensive nightly rate.
Cons: Practically everything
Location: Near to Lancaster Mall and Chemeketa Community College. We saw two movies while there for the five days. Drove through the area around McMinnville
We were provided a room with a handicap shower with a sink outside the bathroom that would be too tall for someone in a wheel chair. The people in the room above ours was up pacing the room several times each night and feet pounding the floor waking us each time. The bed was too soft for our backs and we woke each morning hurting. Very limited parking availability due to shared parking at this facility. No pool or Jacuzzi at this location, but heard there is a dry sauna available. The plastic chain in the shower slides on the floor and is therefore unsafe for handicapped persons.

Is this place really a red lion?

Posted Apr 17, 2015
This place was horrible. The front desk staff were rude, my bed was dirty, the room was really dated

Excellent basic hotel with all the amenities.

Posted Apr 16, 2015
We found our accommodations to be clean and comfortable. Amenities included microwave, micro-fridge, free, but limited bandwidth Wi-Fi, iron, hair dryer, and small TV. We didn't spend much time in the room and most of our meals were supplied by the conference we were attending so I don't know anything about the restaurant. Housekeeping was helpful delivering extra pillows within minutes after we called. No great view but a good place to sleep.

Great place to stay if you have kids and a dog!

A nice indoor pool, a sauna and well kept workout area, in-hotel restaurant with great food, I will stay here again. PLEASE upgrade your TVs however to flat panel!

First Time @ Red Lion

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Pros: The Willamette Valley Grill, the front desk was helpful/friendly & the room had a balcony James and Andre were nice.
Cons: The $2.00 vending machine espresso wasn't that great. Housekeeping might have done a better job the second day - but they had a lot of check-outs.
Location: On Market street in NE Salem. There are some stores and restaurants, as well as a lot of other hotels. There is a bus shelter nearby.
I went to the hotel to get away from my live-in job for a couple of days. This is my first stay at Red Lion. My usual hotel was completely booked and I was able to get a great deal through my travel provider (the cheapest room + $50.00 off for booking more than $200.00 for 3 days), so it was a nice deal. When I saw my room, I thought it was very small, but it had a balcony, and you could open the sliding door and take a breath of fresh air. The view was of the parking lot and the hotel across the street, but that was fine. I wasn't offered any sort of free continental breakfast - I think you have to belong to some sort of frequent stay membership to get that. I did have a bit of trouble connecting to the internet at first. It was resolved with the help of the front desk. Not much cable selection. About 4:00 I went downstairs to check out the restaurant, and it seemed a bit sparse. When I checked out older pics of the hotel, it seemed a lot classier before. There were only a few people seated. I ordered a burger and one of the happy hour drinks (a creamcicle) from a smokin' hot waiter. The drink was strong and the burger was good (a bit salty on the fries, though). I went to the restaurant/bar a few times since then and spent much more money there than I would have if I had hit the Fred Meyers down the street and bought groceries, but the food was good and convenient and in every instance, breakfast, lunch, dinner - the wait staff were always friendly and competent.

My choice the next trip to Salem.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, modern, comfortable room. Great fitness area & equipment. Loved the sauna! The hotel had a couple events going on and it was still quiet and relaxing.

The manager is extremely rude. We switched our reservations to the grand hotel because of how terribly the hotel treated my spouse at check in.
