Quite Dissappointed

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Cons: New carpets and bedding
Location: It was close to downtown Salt Lake City... but in a bit of a sketchy area
Our first room smelled like cigarettes and the toilet was clogged. The carpet was gross as well. We asked to switch rooms and they did so without question but it also smelled and the sheets had cigarette burn holes in them. Needless to say it not an almost 3 star hotel. I would not recommend it to others.

Gross!! I would never stay here again. Sketchy people hanging out in surrounding rooms. We felt very uncomfortable. Price was affordable but not worth it.

Good price for basic accommodation.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Free, good breakfast. Location. Price.
Cons: Clean up grounds, stairs, trim bushes.
Location: Was there for a convention at the Salt Palace. Was able to walk the few blocks, but the free trolly was just about a block away and took us there too.
Staff was prompt & helpful. Our room was hot and the maintenance man got to our room before I could get back. He showed us how to work the air conditioner to get the temp. The grounds and stairs we used needed cleaning. The room was clean & everything worked well. Thinking back, I should have said something about the stairs & I feel they would have cleaned it had they been aware of it.

Thought it was nicer

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Bath and bed.
Cons: Apperance,.
Location: The courthouse and the temple square.
Check in was fine, but trash was all over the floor near one of the tables in the lobby. That was my first impression. When I got to the stairs leading to the first and second floors I found that a key was not needed to open the doors to the floors. Plus, the stairs and the landings were filthy with gum, spilled stuff and cigarette butts. The room was typical but the easy chair was threadbare. While lying on the bed watching TV the lights and TV went off. I phoned the front desk who said they'd send someone right up, but about half an hour later the power returned and shortly thereafter the handyman came and he couldn't undererstand how the power had come back on. When I came in one evening after having been gone all day I found that someone had apparently been watching TV because the remote was on a chair, not on top of the TV where I had left it. Further, the back cover was gone and although the sound could be regulated, the channels could not. But, the bathrooom was clean and the towels were changed daily. The linen was changed daily as well, as far as I could tell. I would stay there again, but I wouldn't bring my wife and children because of the outer appearance of the motel. I didn't see the pool, but there were MANY people there who appeared to be quite happy.

Wet floors everywhere!

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The wet spots and being woken up so early
Cons: The room.
Location: Didn't really explore, we just needed a roof over our head for a few hours.
The very first thing we notice when we walked in to the room was a 10" round wet spot on the carpet just inside the door. Not the end of the world but disappointing. After a few hours we also learned that the air conditioner was leaking inside the room so the floor was damp under the vent. The final nail in the coffin was that they entered the room not once but twice before 8am to take care of the housekeeping. Entering a room before 8am to take care of housekeeping is unnacceptable, especially when you don't even get in until late.

hotel close to train

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Free airport shuttle, continental breakfast, 2 beds and close to train.
Cons: Cleaning the carpet/chairs - both had stains. Spots on the walls looked like they could have been cleaned. Lighting was not good. Rooms need updatin
Location: We were at the convention center mostly so we finding a shortcut to the train helped. Beautiful city.
The hotel was about a 1.5 blocks from train that took us to the convention center. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful. The room itself was dated and the carpet and chairs had stains. The beds and pillows were very comfortable.

Took two rooms to satisfy us.

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff was helpful and appoligetic.
Cons: Cleanliness.
Location: Good location.
Our first room was dirty and the air conditioner didn't work. The temperature outside that day had been 98 degrees. The room was old and musty. After complaining the next morning the staff decided that the air conditioner couldn't be fixed and moved us to a newer section of the motel. Much better room. We did not eat the complimentary breakfast due to the overall lack of cleanliness in the eating area. Lost my appetite.

Looks nice from a distance.

The first room they gave us was in a weird place. You had to walk through the pool area to get to it. You also had to walk by a room that used to house the ice machine and was now being used as a room for the homeless. Upon arriving at the room we discovered the commercial air conditioners where right outside of the door and were so loud you could easily hear them inside with the door closed. Ever with the compressors so close, the room still was 85 degrees, so we asked to be moved to another room. I could go on but suffice it to say we will not be staying there again.

Glad I didn't pay full price for this!

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: We were able to park right in front of our room (ground floor) and the location was close enough to downtown that we walked to a restaurant for dinner
Cons: Just general cleaning and maintenance!
This was an expedia advertised special rate which seemed appealing, as I like to save money. But the place was overall very run-down, and just plain shabby. The ice machine near our room didn't work and it was hard to find the others. Electrical outlets in our room were coming loose. The shower faucet barely functioned to maintain temperature. Overall cleanliness was questionable.
