“Not impressed”
This hotel has a pretty convenient location with plently of parking, and the people at the front desk were friendly and courteous. However the room looked like it had not been maintained for a while. Two of the four lamps weren't working, the sink and tub were clogged with very slow drainage, and the tolilet was flushing regularly on its own. The next day the toilet was clogged too. They did offer another room which we would have taken on the second day but we were ready to check out.
“Good nights sleep”
It was close to downtown and had very comfortable beds. Don't plan on the breakfast there. Good price for a good nights sleep.
“Near downtown sights and that's about it ....but so are plenty of other places, too”
Hotel looks okay on the outside and the lobby is nice. Rooms have Tempurpedic mattresses (which we don't like, but plenty of other people do) and were clean but very small. The pool and hottub were closed (not sure why the hottub needed to be), the Internet connection was non-existent, and the breakfast is literally just watered-down coffee and toast. The amenities I really need are the wi-fi and breakfast and this hotel performed 0 out of 5 on both of those. The housekeeping staff also forgot our shampoos and soaps so I had to ask the gal at the desk for those. The only thing going for this place is the fact that there's plenty of shopping, restaurants, and Temple Square within walking distance, but there are so many hotel options, just pay a couple bucks more and stay someplace else.
“Very nice place to stay.”
I had a wonderful stay here. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. Right downtown so it was easy to get to the sites. I will stay there again.
“Nice Affordable Hotel in Downtown”
This is a small hotel, nothing fancy or over the top, but extremely nice TempurPedic beds, right the heart of downtown and very comfortable.
“Not Impressed”
The location of this hotel is good, as it is near the temple square. However, this hotel looks like too simple from outside the building. Because the noise was been heard .
“Good Value for Downtown Salt Lake City”
The Metropolitan Inn appears to be an older, basic motel that has been updated with fresh paint, carpet, and furniture and a degree of quirky attitude that mostly works. My room showed evidence of past repairs that had not always been expertly done and some updates, such as a painted bath tub, that seemed to have been done awhile ago on a tight budget and were now showing definite signs of wear-and-tear. Road noise was not a problem, although sound-proofing between rooms was insufficient to prevent hearing noisy neighbors, and water-pipe noise from other guests was also prominent at times. The breakfast was disappointingly minimal, unless bagels and coffee are your only requirement. But a Starbucks less than two blocks away might fill that gap for others as it did for me. Despite some shortcomings, however, the room was clean and sufficient for my needs. The wi-fi, though on the slowish side, had a reliably strong signal. Parking was free, and many major downtown attractions are within several blocks walking distance or a TRAX tram ride. The Metropolitan is a reasonable compromise between features, convenience, and cost, and I would definitely include it on my short list for a future visit.
“perfect for the price!”
Building was a little older but for the most part very well maintained. The location was prime, price was very reasonable and all in all I was very pleased with my stay. I will defiantly book here again the next time I'm in salt lake!
“Not quite, but close”
Lots of potential, but the room was kind of shoddy and cramped. The bed was comfortable, and the location is great, but the bathroom was outdated. The water pressure was horrible, and the temperature would not stay hot. Clean and convenient, otherwise.
“in good location”
we stayhere regularly close to all downtown attractions and the interstate. we stayed two nights. only complaint was lots of little flying bugs in room. never had this before, possibly from the time of the year.
