Great value for a downtown beauty

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Since the building is a historic landmark, the rooms are very small. Magnificently comfortable and sound proof but small.
Location: everything......shopping, restaurants, and business.
located in the middle of "the action", The Peery Hotel is a gem. One can walk in a few blocks to shopping and the convention center. The staff were fantastic and the building is beautiful.

Nice. Close to Convention Center

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Closeness to Convention Center
Cons: The sink in the Bathroom splashed all over. Wish there was more counter space in the Bathroom
Location: We found the light rail to be very convenient and close to the hotel. We love the Vietnamese Pleiku
For being 100+ years old, it was in good condition. Wish the room we were in was just a tad bigger but it was comfortable. Loved that breakfast was included with free wifi as well. Only a block from the convention center it was very convenient and located close to wonderful restaurants. Would stay again and recommend it

Good Location but needs work..

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: I think it's neat that there is a historical Hotel keeping some character. However, it needs maintenence and some better comfort features.
Cons: The chipped paint in the rooms... shower head wasn't even attached to the wall.... Dirty towels were re-folded and not replaced with fresh ones....
Location: It's central so the location was great. You could walk all over downtown.
I arrived to the Peery after a long set of flights wanting to experience a clean comfortable space to unwind. Sadly, not the case. My room as tiny...open the door to a bed and the vanity for the bathroom right in the room. I understand as it is a very old building and there are features of old colonial settlements. However... it was not cozy at all.. it was cramped. It smelt musty and my TV didn't even work.. it was just static. There was a pleasant gentleman at the front though who was eager to help, and I know the hotel's state was/is not his fault. Due to my clear upset.. he switched me rooms where I had a full bathroom instead. I would say that the beds are very comfy, but the hotel itself is missing key components of comfort. You have to pay extra to have a mini fridge in the room which is a pain.... there is nowhere to fill up water bottles even... and the shop is sub-par with nothing but candy. :( Floors squeaked and the carpet is rippling everywhere. Blehh. It also frustrated me that instead of getting fresh towels after they were clearly used...they were just re-folded and hung on my rack. So I got to use dirty towels throughout my stay.... for the cost to stay there?? Unacceptable.

LOCATION & AMBIANCE - for the WIN!

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Location was amazing. Also the historical vibe was cool.
Cons: coffee pot in room
Location: everything! Arts, restaurants for all budgets, great night life, shopping, mass transit......great experience overall
Returning to SLC, UT for a wedding, I was very particular as to where I wanted to stay after living & working in the DTSLC area for over 10 years. I chose the Peery for its stunning architecture, historical attributes, and AMAZING location - right in the heart of CITY LIFE! The bar across the street - Gracie's is one of my faves, and then around the corner is Murphy's Pub, a local AWESOME dive. So many restaurant choices within walking distance. And entertainment venues galore! If you don't want to walk around downtown, the Peery is located within the TRAXX free fair zone. BE AWARE - SLC, UT has a HUGE homeless population downtown in this area. It's not a matter of if you will run into someone struggling, but when. PLEASE be kind to these humans, they are not out to harm you. At least acknowledge them when they speak to you. Back to the Peery.....there is an eerie vibe - and I kept getting flashbacks of "The Shining" when I walked around the hotel, looked at the historical pictures, and of course when I descended the grand staircase into the ball-room like lobby. That was part of the charm though. To know it has been there since the 1920's, hosting Salt Lakes version of aristocracy on many occasions, was a testament to the hidden nuggets of diversity found within the city. I will be back - and rather than stay with family or friends I will choose the PEERY HOTEL!

Our room was very large, and the bathroom is huge! The staff was very friendly. We loved the antique furnishings.
