Helpful staff, notably Mario. Very nicely designed, simple and clean. A short walk up and down narrow cobblestone streets to the Church of St. Francis and other attractions. Enjoyed Samba music in historic square and relative silence at Pousada.

Loved my stay at the Deville - staff were very friendly and helpful at all times and the rooms, pool, restaurants, lobby, fitness centre were all well kept, clean, and fresh. The breakfast was fabulous and service amazing. The entire facilties are fantastic and it is a great place to just chill out and get away from it all. Very quiet and relaxed. (Was a quiet time of the year). I had a massage and also manicure and pedicure and they were all top class. The fitness centre is fantastic and there is a walking circuit on the hotel grounds that you can do laps around otherwise you are just a short stroll to the beach. You are totally away from everything here - no hustle and bustle at all but that's bad if you want to get amongst it but fabulous if you want to relax.

We stayed in the resort apartments. There is also a hotel as part of the property. As a property everything was outstanding. we loved the apartment , the facilities and everything. There aren't too many options outsaid of the resort and food in the resort is pretty expensive or the value. Our room included breakfast which was great. Old town is the main attraction with a lot of history. It is about 7 Kms from the resort. wandering about at night alone may not be the safest in Salvadore.

We are Americans that live in Sao Paulo, Brazil because of my husbands job. My husband and I went to Salvador with relaxation in mind, a weekend without our kids to just do nothing! We found the hotel to be very peaceful, but has activities to do if you want to. We kept saying how much the kids would enjoy it, so we will most likely return someday with them. The beach at the resort was beautiful... if you go down at the right time in the morning you can see coral reefs and all the little critters crawling around them!! Our kids would LOVE that!! The pool is amazing and the temperature of the water was perfect!! They have a pool table, ping pong and fuse-ball... but only one of each, so you might have to wait to use it. There isn't really anything near-by the hotel as far as restaurants or sights to see, not within walking distance... so if that's what you're interested in this is not a good choice. You can take a taxi to places... for us, it was about R$50 for a 20 minute ride... which is about how long it takes to get somewhere.
Over all the hotel is wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay... I'm very thankful that I didn't pay attention to the reviews that only had negative things to say!
