Decent out of town option in Salvador

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: If you want a safe base away from the chaos of Salvador, this is a good option. The facilities are all there and it feels like an oasis vs. the city.
Cons: The food and the service. It's all a bit hit and miss. You don't always get what you order and the quality can be poor compared to other local options
Location: If you are using this for the world cup, only stay for the games. Go North to Praia do Forte in between.
I previously stayed when it was a Sofitel. New owners have kept it mostly the same, but give the impression they are cutting corners to save costs.

I truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is about a 40 min ride to the main points of interest in Salvador which costs about 60 Brazillian reals.

Good airport hotel

Great if you are transiting through Salvador and need to have a few meetings. The shower is good and strong like most Brazilian 4 star hotels however I had a problem with getting hot water at around 10am. Food is good and the bar is a nice place to meet.

Nice hotel, slightly disappointing food options.

Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: Setting and wildlife
Cons: Food
Location: Very good for what we needed.
I was pleasently surprised by this hotel, although there are a few things it could do better. The hotel itself is on a huge set of grounds which are very nice and full of wildlife, you need to check out the iguanas that lie around the side of the lake. Arrival was good and check in was quick and efficient and the deluxe room I had was very nice with a comfortable bed and working areas. The bathroom was very nice with a very nice rain effect shower, which for once I liked, normally I don't like them. The public areas of the hotel are well maintained and smart, but where this hotel falls down a little is through the food and drink options. The main resturant is set beside a lovely lake which has loads of fish and birds around it. But the food itself was poor most times we ate there. The service was also patchy as most of the staff didn't speak good English. The pool area is great and the lobby bar was nice to stay in. One hint make sure you have a small plug adaptor for the room not one of the big European style adaptors as all the sockets were set back into the wall rather than flat. Had to charge things off the shaver socket in the bathroom. All in all would go to this hotel again if in the area.

Excellent resort hotel

Posted Jan 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel has ample grounds, with a landscaped lagoon and nice swimming pool. The rooms are large and comfortable. Daily cleaning of top quality. Buffet breakfast is excellent, good selection of fruits, Brazilian sweets, croissants, breads, warm dishes, etc. Restaurant serves good meals at a reasonable price. Highly recommended. The only inconvenience - the neighbourhood is said to be dangerous, incl. the nearby beach.

not good service - not recommended for business

Posted Aug 17, 2012 on Hotels.com
Unfortunately the internet stopped working. Furthermore, after calling and going to reception, there was not real support (or really a lot of will/sympathy) to repair the internet. They insisted it was my computer but did not mention there were other people with the same problem (I saw a couple at the reception desk one of the times I went to talk about the issue). They eventually recognized it was a technical problem but it was not clear how they were going to fix it. Since I was visiting for work, I had to leave for another hotel with internet access. The lack of internet was not so much the problem for me but the lack of support to fix the problem and the fact they were not being straight with me. I did not feel they were taking the problem seriously even there were other guests complaining for the same problem

Deville - a great place to relax

Posted Jun 26, 2012
Pros: The pool area is fabulous!
Cons: Very very quiet, no life in the bar, but hotel was quiet in general
Location: Close to the airport but miles from anything else - great for relaxing
Loved my stay at the Deville - staff were very friendly and helpful at all times and the rooms, pool, restaurants, lobby, fitness centre were all well kept, clean, and fresh. The breakfast was fabulous and service amazing. The entire facilties are fantastic and it is a great place to just chill out and get away from it all. Very quiet and relaxed. (Was a quiet time of the year). I had a massage and also manicure and pedicure and they were all top class. The fitness centre is fantastic and there is a walking circuit on the hotel grounds that you can do laps around otherwise you are just a short stroll to the beach. You are totally away from everything here - no hustle and bustle at all but that's bad if you want to get amongst it but fabulous if you want to relax.
