Perfect location in a beautifully restored mansionPosted Mar 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel villa Bahia is located in a beautiful square in Salvador. There are churches at both ends and shops and restaurants in between. The hotel is decorated with incredible antiques and the rooms are large with views of the square.

I have a cousin that lives in Salvador. We met for dinner and I invited him to sit on my patio and have a glass of wine. We visited, shared family stories and had a great visit catching up. We normally do not get to visit much living in different countries. Although late...maybe 1 or 2 AM (it was CARNIVAL and this hotel is in the center of CARNIVAL my cousin left. He grew up local so we toured Salvador and went to dinner again the next night. Same person. same situation. The 2 nights he left at a reasonable time. I had an substancial charge added to my bill for having a guest!!! I am a seasoned traveler and stay in many hotels every year! I have never heard of such a charge!!! My cousin lives out of town. This was an expensive, upscale room with a patio that had a table and 2 chairs to use!

Beautiful Hotel - everything perfect !Posted Jun 8, 2012
Pros: Breakfast !! The best ever.
I have just stayed at this hotel for the past 5 days and It was a fantastic experience. From the minute i entered the hotel i was amazed at the beautiful artwork, furniture, and the service from the staff was fantanstic ! I stayed in the room 'nagasaqui' (all the rooms have names) and this room had its own balcony overlooking the historic city. At night a little band playing live music could be heard but it was nice to add to the atmosphere. In the room everything was perfect, The theme was amazing, and the bathroom was beautiful. Every detail was thought of to make the stay comfortable. This room was just next to the lift on top floor (3rd floor) so it was easy to get to. The lift doors had amazing artwork on them too. Breakfast was just superb, every morning i had an omelette cooked or i could choose whatever eggs i liked. Fresh fruit, selection of breads, non stop great coffee! And every morning it changed to include different cakes, ham, cheese, tapioca dessert, corn flakes, different jams too. It was an alacarte breakfast, the best i have ever had ! This hotel is in the best position, its really quiet in the square at front of building at night. And very easy to walk every where from its location. Add extra comfort to your journey and stay at this hotel if you want to be in the historic centre.

Very Pleasant Stay, Recommended.Posted May 8, 2012
Location: Excellent. Right on the square
Beatutiful architecture, excellent location. You will be on a historical square, note the amazing stone cross in the Cruzeiro de Sao Francisco. Yes, there are beggers and a few teenagers sleeping on the sidewalks in the historical Pelourinho but I did not feel a real danger.

Great hotel very centralPosted Nov 12, 2011
Spent 7 nights in the Hotel Villa Bahia which is right at the centre of the old, historic part of Salvador, Brazil. Staff very friendly, English spoken, the hotel occupies two historic buildings, very beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable. Not the cheapest but recommended for comfort, security and convenience for visiting Pelhourina, the 18th century colonial historic part of town.

Enjoyed our stay very much.Posted Oct 16, 2011
We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was superb--right in the middle of the Pelourinho District and steps away from the St. Francis Church. Food was outstanding and plentiful. We ate only one lunch there but it was delicious and reputed among two French expats we knew to be the best place to dine. This is mostly a tourist and leisure accommodation. It was not too convenient to work in because it was not furnished to make work a priority. Wifi throughout the hotel but had trouble with speed and connection. Would return in a minute and intend to do so.
