“Works Well”
This hotel is a little different. It seems to actually be primarily a student residence, with hotel guests added in. Kolpinghaus is part of the Kolping Society that furthers education and job training. There were a number of students around, and possibly because we were there at the end of summer, it wasn't as busy as it might be at other times of the year. We had no concerns with the residence aspect of this, and there appeared to be a few other hotel guests there also. The staff was fully prepared to handle us as hotel guests as well as handling the residence. The rooms were set up like a school residence, two beds, two desks, etc. For the three of us, they gave us two rooms (for the price of one) because they didn't have a room available that could accommodate more than 2 (not sure if because they were rented out already, or nonexistent). The breakfast area was a cafeteria. The breakfast was included, but was pretty basic -- a choice of bread and a tray or two of cold cuts and cheese, coffee, tea, water, or the choice of one orange drink. The location was quite convenient, it is 400m to the bus stop. The bus runs about every 6 minutes, its a 5 minute ride to the train station or a 10 minute ride to the center of old-town Salzburg (same bus). The basic room price was pretty expensive for what you get, but with the special Expedia deal it was quite reasonable. And Salzburg is a bit expensive anyway.
