A bit disappointing and not a 5 starPosted Jan 8, 2011
We stayed here on New Year's Eve and New Years Day 2010/1. I would disagree with some of the complimentary reviews on about this hotel for the following reasons: The rate (which was expensive) did not include breakfast which was an additional 22 euros per person - this should be taken into account in deciding on whether to book this or an alternative hotel where breakfast is included. Parking - we had to draw up on a very busy road and leave ouri car at the side - we were lucky to find a place as it is very busy. The receptionist then informed us that the parking was 20 mins away and the porter would take our car there for us. If we wanted it back we were to give 20 mins notice and he would collect it. This cost 26 euros per day! Again you need to bear this in mind when deciding whether this hotel offers value for money - I don't think it does when you also add the cost of the breakfast. The room was a standard room as this was the only one available. There was a large space however the bedroom was small and there was no where to sit other than on the bed - one hard back desk chair was provided which was uncomfortable and not much help for two people! The bathroom was large but the facilites were not of a 5 star - old fashined bath and wall mounted shower - not power shower. In summary - great location but before you book take my comments into account and compare the total cost with alternatives - I saw a few other hotels in the old town which looked nicer.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!Posted Oct 13, 2010
We stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt for six nights. The hotel is located in the old town within minutes of all the sights and the university of Salzburg where we attended a conference. The room was large and very comfortable, with a view of the old town and fortress. Hotel personnel and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Have never stayed in a more charming hotel!

Best location in Salzburg!Posted Oct 6, 2010
The hotel was everything we expected and more, located right in the heart of Old Town, the hotel looks out onto the river and the back lane is a walking street with all the best shops and restaurants in Salzburg. You couldn't get a better location as Old Town is walking only and major transportation was available using the front of the hotel. We received a room upgrade for free and our room had all the bells and whistles and included complimentary drinks in the lounge.

Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt, SalzburgPosted Oct 3, 2010 on Hotels.com
Fantastic hotel right in the middle of the Old Town, close to a large variety of shops which you can wander in and out of. Our suite was amazing - very large room and bathroom and a small room with lounge chair and TV. Staff very very friendly and efficient especially seeing as we didn't speak any German! Would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone!

Good place to stay for a visit in SalzbourgPosted Jul 12, 2010 on Hotels.com
I stayed 3 nights in this hotel while visiting Salzbourg. I was expecting a little more for that 4 star hotel but our stay was very good. I consider the room to be more 3 strar sttandard. They were a little small and had difficulty to find place to store our 2 luggages. Air conditionning was not working properly but they fixed the problem quickly. Verry good location in the center of the old town.

beautiful hotel - perfect location.Posted Jun 1, 2010
I have been to Salzburg before and wanted to bring my mum as a birthday treat - and it certainly didn't disappoint! Salzburg is sophisticated, opulent and grand. The shopping is fantastic and the food is even better! The hotel is situated in the heart of the old town and is surrounded by shops and restaurants, but not so as to be intrusive. We stayed on the first floor in a beautiful room which was more like a suite as it had a separte entrance with the bedroom leading off, and a three piece suite! The room was a little dark as one window faced the high wall of a building but it helped to keep the room cooler. My only complaint is that the room was quite warm at night and as the window faced the main street it wasn't possible to keep the large windows open - a fan would have been welcomed. The local dish is wonderful - veal in breadcrumbs served with potatoes and cranberry jam. I can recommend the hotel accross the river on the main road leading down, on the opposite side of the road and slightly further up than "Wein & Co" - apologies but I cannot remember the name of it! For a more upmarket meal, I can certainly recommend the restaurant in hotel K&K which is just around the corner from the hotel. All in all a fantastic trip and I will definitely go back.

Great Hotel in Salzburg Old City!!Posted Jan 6, 2010
This hotel is in a great location in the Old City of Salzburg. We took the city bus from the train station & there was an entrance to the hotel on the main street facing the river so it was only a 2 block walk from the bus stop. the other side of the hotel faces the main cobblestone shopping street. All of the staff was very friendly, helpful and english speaking. Our room was very nice with robe, slippers, bidet, cable tv and nice toiletries. We were on the top floor with a skylight but no view due to a building right next to us but we were sightseeing all day so that was fine. The Christmas Market was amazing and only 2 blocks from the Hotel!!

Fantastic Hotel with Outstanding ServicePosted Jul 23, 2009 on Hotels.com
We absolutely loved the Radisson SAS Hotel Altstadt! The front desk employees were so helpful and nice. Our two standard rooms were upgraded to beautiful suites. They were on different floors, but we have older teenagers,so that did not bother us. The rooms did not have air conditioning, but they brought in a standing fan/air conditioner that helped quite a bit. The location can not be beat, right in the middle of the old city with plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions within walking distance. We would definitely stay there again!
