“WOLF DIETRICH SALZBURG”
Nice hotel, but...staff somewhat cold. We were placed in the "Annex", across the street. Problem was that it is a 4 story walk up, and though we were on the third floor, by then, i was huffing and puffing each time we climbed the steps. Expedia should have adv that we'd be placed across the street, where, BTW, the rooms are cheaper. Breakfast was great, and they offer free tea, coffee, and cake each afternoon from 3:30pm till 6pm, in the lobby. Great location. All of the important tourist sites in Salzburg were walkable, even the Main Train Station. Note; The concierge will only book you tours that they "work with" (ie, get a commission). We opted to book our own Sound of Music Tour with Bob's Tours.
“Excellent value for money”
Location is excellent. Free afternoon tea/coffee with pastry helped us to stretch until dinner - seating is limited in many restaurants so reservation is must.
“salzburg, wish i could live there”
The hotel is well located, excellent breakfest, very clean room, nice staff, my only issue was the bathroom. worlds smallest, when you sit on the toilet your knees hit the door, which is why the toilet seat is wobbly, and the shower can hardly fit a grown man, i dont know how a person of larger size can possibly use the facility, however its salzburg my absolute most favorite place on earth so i really didn't care
“Substandard”
My wife and I stayed two nights at the Wolf-Dietrich Hotel for our seventh wedding anniversary. When we arrived, we were immediately struck by the fact that the room had no A/C. It was very stuffy, and had it not been for the cooler weather outside, our night would have been quite uncomfortable. A fan was provided which we ran the whole time, but in my opinion a four-star hotel should have A/C. On the other hand, the staff were very professional. They were somewhat abrupt at times, but having lived in Europe for many years, I understand that this is more of a cultural issue. No points docked for service. The free breakfast was also very enjoyable. I can also say that the hotel was very clean. No qualms there either. As to the overall condition of our room, I was not satisfied. There was a small curtain rod over our bed that was literally falling off the wall. The plaster all around it was cracking. The hair-dryer provided looked older than the hotel and worked poorly. The shower head would not stay in place and we finally had to rig it with a rubberband to keep it from sliding down its mount. In summary, the hotel wouldn't be a bad option as a cheaper, two or three star hotel. But considering its attempt to portray itself as luxury, and considering the higher price I paid, I was not at all pleased. I would not recommend this hotel, and I will not stay there again on my next visit to Salzburg.
“Great service and wonderful location”
What a great spot! The hotel is located steps away from the main attractions, yet in a quiet and relaxing area. Although it may need some updating, it was wonderful. The staff was helpful and warm. The breakfast buffet was perfect. They offered hundreds of DVDs -- our daughter was in heaven. The spa was magical. We will certainly go here again.
“Great hotel in Salzburg”
The hotel was nice and on a quiet street. Our room was beautifully decorated and very roomy with a seating area. The staff was helpful and very nice. It was located just around the corner from a pedestrian-only street with boutiques and restaurants. In addition, it was only a 5-minute walk from many attractions, including Mozart's birthplace. Only downfall is that there is no parking onsite. You need to park your car in a parking garage that is located a few minutes' walk away.
“One of the best in Salzburg”
We stayed for two nights in June, 2011 and could not have been happier. The hotel staff was very friendly, attentive, and cared about our comfort and visit. They have DVD's to lend out and even loaned us an adaptor for converting from US to Europe's outlets since I forgot to pack mine. They helped to set up a "Sound of Music" tour for us as well as providing free breakfast, and complimentary afternoon tea. The room was large and looked to be recently renovated. The bathroom was clean, fresh, and one of the largest I've seen in Europe. It's two blocks from the city center on a quiet side street. The place just couldn't be any better.
“Great Hotel in Altstadt”
Around a corner from Linzer Grasse, and a short walk over the river to the Altstadt (Old Town) Salzburg. The building is old, but the inside is nice.
“Great service”
We had a wonderful stay. Great service with a terrific breakfast. I just wish the suites across the street were serviced by an elevator. We hope to be back.
“Great stay at Wolff Dietrich Hotel”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very charming and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Salzburg.
