Among the better hotels we stayed at in Europe

Pros: Very good staff and nice rooms.
Cons: WiFi policies. More difficult than it needs to be to get a wifi connection on multiple devices.
For Americans, European Hotels are found to be a little lacking in size and amenities. The Wyndham is a very nice combination of a more American style hotel and Austrian service levels and hospitality. A very nice place with great staff.

Convenient location, no frills

Pros: Location. Cleanliness.
Cons: better in-room services and housekeeping.
The hotel is right next to the main train station. We hopped off the Westbahn train from Vienna and walked to the hotel in less than 5 minutes. It is about 2km away from the old city but it is a pleasant walk and you pass by the Mirabell Gardens on the way. Lots of buses go to the train station by the hotel and you can always hop on a bus to go back after a long day's sightseeing: Just buy the 24-hour pass for 3.40 Euros and you are all set. Breakfast was not included in our booking and it cost 18 Euro a head but there are lots of places to eat nearby so I wouldn't bother. The hotel doesn't provide much in terms of toiletries: there's liquid hand soap/shampoo, a small bottle of body lotion (which does not get replenished by housekeeping), and a shower cap (doesn't get replenished either). The hotel is clean and conveniently located and is a good choice for the money, but I would generally recommend staying in a hotel in the old town if you can find one.

Business hotel, close to train station

Pros: Cleaniless. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: Cost of the breakfast buffet.
Location: Not a nice part of the city (had to pass sex shops on both routes to the old town) and takes at least 30 mins to walk to any of the tourist sites.
Hotel is more geared for business customers than tourists. For a small city like Salzburg, it is a good 30 mins walk away from any of the sites and not in a nice part of the city near the train station. Breakfast was not included in the room price and when you have a party of 6, €18 per person for breakfast is very expensive. Reason we picked this hotel was because it was one of the few with a swimming pool, which both our children did enjoy (though it is very small). Loved Salzburg and will return, but next time will pick a hotel nearer the old town.

Convenient location for public transport.

Pros: Location was good for transport links. Rooms were well presented , beds had comfortable pillows and duvets. Adjustable air con and temp.control good
Cons: Even after being asked to, room service did not top up the tea/coffee resources in the room, or supply enough toiletries- 1 roll of toilet roll only!
Location: Hotel is 2 minutes walk from central train station and bus station. Good supermarket and shopping center in same location. Tourist information close.
This is a good hotel, I found it at relatively short notice and was pleased there were still rooms available. The room was a family room with two queen beds. It was clean, smart and centrally located for transport links. The hotel reception was manned at all times, the staff were helpful, courteous and gave good tourist information and advice. Use of iron and ironing board was helpful as were the room's tea, coffee facilities. A key issue was the city tax charge we had to pay when checking out. Despite my asking when we checked into the hotel if there would be any additional charges to pay and being told by hotel staff there would be nothing more to pay, we were asked to pay the charge at check out. I had even e-mailed the hotel in advance to confirm all costs had been paid which they confirmed at the time had been. Being informed of the charge at the end our stay was annoying as I was short of euros by that time.

Clean and close to rail station

Resturant in hotel had BEST food anywhere! Clean and close to rail station. Family of four with two teens. Nice room size.

old old hotel

Pros: nice staff
Cons: everything - needed a lot of updating
Location: not in a good section of town
This hotel was very old and need of a lot of updating. The breakfast buffet was E18. Although it was close to train station, it was not in the best/historic part of town.

Welcoming, centrally located Hotel

Pros: The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and the food served in the bar area was of a high standard.
Cons: The overpricing of the parking (16 Euro's per night) and the extortionate amount for a buffet breakfast (18 Euro's per person) let the hotel down.
Location: Central to Villach, the hotel is located very close to shopping centres and there is a choice of places to eat out if you do not wish to stay in.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially after having to return to the hotel after a flight cancellation. In general the hotel was clean and well maintained, but the shower and bath let the room down by being old and worn. Some parts were missing or in bad repair.

Great Hotel for the Train Station

Pros: Clean, tidy and quiet.
Cons: Ideally it would be nearer the middle of Salzurg, but its proximity to the train station meant we were not carrying luggage too far.
Location: All the Salzburg attractions are within easy reach (25min walk max)
Hotel is situated within a two minute walk of the main train station (HBF). It is about a 15min walk from the Mirabell Palace and a further 5 minutes to cross the river into the old part of town. Hotel was very clean and tidy, we didn't eat in the hotel because the breakfast price was too high (18 euro each). Room was very quiet even with the window open at night time.

Decent hotel close to train station

Pros: affordable for the area
Location: Not much near by for restaurants. Part of our stay was on a Sunday, and there is not a lot open in the town on Sunday.
The location from the train station is great but it's a good 30 minute walk to the downtown older city area. Pool was nice for my son. The bathroom tiles were not clean - there was mold in the shower area. This stay was at the end of a long trip, so we didn't bother to report the cleanliness problem and I can't comment on how the staff would have handled this issue.
