No amenities, not enough parking!
Would not stay here again. I had to call Hotel.com and have them call the property manager for the code to the door since we never received it. There are 4 units and barely enough room to par two SMALL cars. I called property about an unknown car that was parked in front and we were told to find somewhere else to park on the same street. The bathroom only had two bath towel, two rags and one hand towels, not enough for a woman with long hair. They were also hammering going on in the unit next to us for a few hours and we could hear every word they were saying. No sound barrier between walls!

This was an oasis away from the city bustle, and yet so close for business and leisure engagements. Discovering the community of thoughtful people preserving this storied neighborhood in San Antonio's history was also a great pleasure. Breakfast is on hold during pandemic conditions, so bring you favorite coffee fixings to keep in the fridge and you can enjoy breakfast in your room or at several places a short walk down the tree-lined street. This is a great place to stay!

Excellent location in the King William District. Very comfortable room (“Bordeaux”) and bed; oversized bedroom and bathroom with separate shower stall and bathtub. Room does not have separate individual thermostat for A/C control; it was necessary to ask the very friendly innkeepers to change temperature setting to our desired level.

R & R in place of a cancelled meeting
This was my 3rd stay at A Yellow Rose and the first in 8 years. Same innkeepers and the same friendly service as if I have returned to stay with friends. I much prefer such places compared with large resorts and hotels such as where my meeting was being held (had it not been cancelled in deference to Miss Corona Virus). I came anyway for R & R which I got.

It was spacious for the room that I had. The drywall is nice and the fiberglass doors look nic It was not worth the $150 a night that I got locked into by prepaying through Travelocity, $75 would have been fair because: This bed-and-breakfast was no bed-and-breakfast because breakfast was not included. I guess, through Travelocity I inadvertently chose the coffee and juice option (that all standard hotels have a at minimum) even though it was not shown on the two sets of paper work I had, one supposedly from the Bed & Breakfast and one form Travelocity. The juice by the way has a best by date of October 16, 2019. I was looking for something like I experienced in other B&Bs. It is not an interesting stay in building as shown(the street side building) in the add that I saw so it is not a majestic home conversion or majestic old building with a fine room inside. Inside it looks somewhat nice to the common eye but it appears to be cobbled together by a handy man or inexperienced craftsmen. Sink light switch off one position to the left, tread on steps not per code...landing turn for stairs the same (dangerous). . For some reason they could not manage a wash cloth when they serviced the room. This is a stay in a bunch of other (out) buildings behind the building (shown in the Travelocity ad) in front that have been renovated but it appears to be from other buildings that were hobbled together. After my stay I noticed a picture of the out buildings but it looks better in the pi

Hi, Yes, parking in an historical residential neighborhood is not as convenient as a hotel parking lot. But it is free! We discovered that our guests were bringing their own tech for tv, movies, etc. so we cut the cable quite awhile ago and use antennas.

The location is in a leafy and historic location and is within a relatively easy walking distance to the downtown Riverwalk area, but also within blocks of restaurants, shops, and cafe's in the trendy King William district. Overall, the Yellow Rose is a great place to stay if you would like a nice quiet and comfortable spend the weekend or holiday in San Antonio. A great alternative to the busy (and loud) hotels downtown.

Walking distance to the Riverwalk. Close to MadHatters for breakfast Feast for dinner. We were able to park our Ford Escape SUV in their parking lot at the back of the house. King William district is beautiful especially at Christmas with all the homes decorated. The room we had for 6 nights was spacious for 2 people. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with our wine. Small fridge in room for water, beer and wine. We booked the room through Expedia therefore breakfast was not included which worked well for us.

This was my first time to stay at a bed and breakfast. I am disappointed as I expected a more personal experience. The house is lovely and the room was clean and comfortable but we were not greeted by anyone at check-in nor were we checked on during our stay. I was surprised by this as I was expecting that personal touch by staying at a bed and breakfast and also there was no breakfast served - only juice and coffee. I am disappointed by this experience and will probably not ever stay at a bed and breakfast again.

Good morning. I'm sorry you were disappointed. Guests arrive at all times of day and night and we provide self guest check in and check out for convenience and ease. We don't like to be locked into specific times of arrival when we travel so we provide our guests with that same flexibility. That being said, we try to stay accessible. Over the years, there was a significant decline in breakfast interest. Several years ago, we started to offer a choice [full, continental, no breakfast]. Again there was a decline in interest, so we eliminated the full breakfast. Most of our guests do not even choose the continental breakfast. Our policies are clearly stated in the description. Again, I'm sorry your expectations were not met. Please try other, more traditional, b&bs. There are many to choose from with many formats. Thanks!

Hidden gem.
Love the room. Loved the location! It was just what we wanted. Streets and homes in neighborhood were Beautiful. Old house charm with everything we needed and none of the stuff we don’t. So quiet and private. Rooms were great and comfortable. Multiple pillows with different firmness you won’t miss home. Price was great. Did not get breakfast did not ask for it. Check In was different but not hard. Kind of liked it. Little note saying enjoy your stay, keys in the door for you. No hassles no wait. Will stay there again. Only on issue the man does not like the rentable scooters. We got a couple and came back to the hotel he was pissed off that we stopped in front of the house. We were gonna change clothes and roll back out. He came off the porch and tossed them into the street. Mumbling about how much he hates them. Pretty rude. Other than that great stay. Plenty of great food and bars within walking distance

Hotel was more than expected. I had an amazing stay will definitely return on my next trip. Had a late check in, would recommend placing some type of visual guidance for when its dark. Parking is limited for big vehicles we used the local Lyft to move around to prevent us from losing any available parking spots. Met one of the owners. He was very kind and asked immediately the status of our comfort. Do wish I could’ve had more control over the temp in the room. Overall hotel is well kept instructions are pretty simple and location is on point. Quiet. Cozy. Comfortable.

Charming B&B! Clean, cool and very comfortable. Owners are friendly and accommodating. Location is fantastic, safe area, near river walk, good restaurants and entertainment. Didn't know quite what to expect but we found charm and independence in the historic section. Owner just leaves the key in an outside basket for you. She did appear to check on us and provided dinner recommendations and adjusted the a/c for us as you don't have the capability. Room has exterior door with somewhat of a courtyard with two outside chairs and table to have wine at night or coffee in the morning. You can even converse with other guests if you like. We walked to dinner as many restaurants were nearby.

Nice area, cute& comfy room close to everything.
This is in a great area of town. Walking distance to a lot of good restaurants and there's a neat little bar called Francis Bogside right at the end of the road that has late night eats, good drinks and there was a good little band on a Monday night when we got into town. The bed & bathroom- no breakfast provided when booking through hotels.com.or other 3rd party sites. We got good coffee and a French press in our room to make our own and two small cans of oj plus 2 generic diet sodas. I'd have rather had milk and water but whatever. I'd stay here again but there was a for sale sign on the property so idk if it will stay a b&b or not. We only saw one of the owners when she brought us towels not very warm or friendly just all business really, didn't ask how we we're doing or enjoying our stay. Seems combined with the for sale sign and the unenthusiastic attitude I think these guys are over being b&b owners. The room was great especially loved the big tub and the bed was firm but so comfy, slept like a rock! Speaking of rock we were in town to see a rock concert (Marilyn Manson) and the venue( Aztec theater) was so close it was a 6.00 uber ride. The neighborhood was so cute and quite, yet a stones throw from downtown/ Riverwalk area. Tito's Mexican is right near and delicious and across from that is madhatters tea restaurant. We got a slice of cheese cake it was great! It's a cute little spot, would like to try it next time in town. Overall we'd stay here again.

Cute little B&B(ish) close to the Riverwalk
We drove in from Oklahoma for the Rock n' Roll Marathon. Overall, we really liked the property and location. It was close to the Riverwalk and there were many restaurants nearby. We got in later in the evening so all of the street parking was taken for approximately 4 blocks because the area is busy at night. We parked our truck behind the building but the parking is very tight. Smaller cars fit but navigating the drive can be tricky. We moved our truck and left it in the street for the remainder of our stay once parking was available. There were a few random drinks and some coffee grounds in the mini fridge but breakfast is not included at all for Expedia members. There was also a microwave and coffee pot in the room. The thermostat is locked and hidden behind the decor. We had to find a fan in a closet to cool the room at night since we couldn't find the thermostat initially. The owner came in the next day to adjust the temperature to what she saw fit. It helped some but we still ran the fan at night. We spent a day walking around the town. We saw the Alamo (entry was free) and checked out the Riverwalk. It was beautiful, especially lit up for Christmas. This is a great choice for keeping it local in SATX, just know that there are breakfast restrictions even for non-third party travelers and that parking is tricky.

We tried to make it very clear on our listing with Expedia that the rate includes French press coffee, tea and juice. Because this is an historical property and residential by nature we do not have thermostats/units for each room. We do try to set heating and cooling so that everyone is comfortable and respond quickly to requests. We also provide supplemental fans and heaters in each room. I'm sorry you were inconvenienced.

I loved my stay at the bed and breakfast.
I enjoyed my stay at the bed and breakfast mainly for the privacy and the "home" feeling to it. I felt like I was living at home and not at some hotel. I was able to park my small 4 door car in the small spaces in the back of the property. Restaurants, good ones I might add, attractions, were all just a few blocks away. If I needed to go farther I could call Uber or Lyft for a small fee compared to what you pay for at the parking garages downtown. The room itself was very clean. There was everything in it that was described in the hotel amenities. I had made all my arrangements with Deb, over email. I didn't get to see her during my stay, but I briefly talked to her over the phone at checkout. This was my first time at a B & B and it was a completely different checking in/out process from what everyone's used to when going to an hotel. Deb gave me instructions on how to check in, and as my guest and I entered the room it was all nice and neat. Deb left us notes in several areas. There were instructions for the television, the coffee maker, for the shower and a guidebook on local places to visit. The only things that I didn't like was that I wasn't able to control the temperature in my room, but she had a heater and a fan in the room so that made things work. Other than this I really liked the place. I wish I could have stayed longer. My room, Provence, had a big shower and hot tub. My guest and I really enjoyed that. We also loved having the small deck outside to hang out in.

Cute B&B close to Riverwalk
I stayed here while visiting a close friend and we absolutely loved it. It's close to the mall, Tower of America, and the River Walk. The street was quiet, and there was a great tea house right around the corner (Mad Hatter's) and less than a mile from the Guenther House. I would've expected to pay a lot more than I did for such a nice place. The owners are always around and happy to help with anything. This is where I'll stay whenever I go back to San Antonio.

Lovely and affordable!!!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The neighborhood was lovely and the river was only a few blocks away. While it's a 20 minute walk to the more touristy bits, we found lots of great places to eat nearby. Coming back from the Riverwalk at night was OK but the second night we took a cab back from the Alamo. It was under $7, a small price to pay for the $100+ per night we saved over the larger hotels. The owners were friendly and offered to help in any way they could. Parking was a little tight but manageable. Breakfast wasn't included with our rate but we had great meals nearby. I would look forward to staying here again and would definitely recommend.
We love being able to walk to our local restaurants and happy to introduce our guests to the benefits of our neighborhood. It's not just about the River Walk! Thanks!
