Hidden Gem!

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Staff, breakfast, location
Cons: Shades. My room happened to be facing a street light so my room wasn't super dark, but that is just random, I guess.
Location: Alamo. Riverwalk.
We were there for a work conference. The conference hotel (name brand) was way too expensive. The Crockett was affordable and right downtown, just a few feet away from the Alamo. Breakfast was delicious, the staff bent over backwards to help us. Excellent place.

Pros: Very friendly staff, location, cleanliness.
Cons: We found the mattress to be too hard.
Our room was very spacious, clean and quiet (except for the neighbors who LOUDLY returned to their room at 2:15 a.m.) Small elevators, which is not unusual since it is a historic hotel. Complimentary breakfast was very good. Convenient to attractions, directly across the street from the Alamo and very close to the River Walk.

Crockett hotel was disaster

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: proximity to the river center.
Cons: everything needs to be improved. Replace staff that sit on the desk and not in the back room. hire some valet boys that are available around the cloc
Location: River center mall. River walk. Alamo
very old. unfriendly staff. They charge $21 for parking. Valet or self but they would not bring the car around when you need it. There is a Ramp to go from front drop off to the lobby that is not good with couple of doors in between. Rooms are outdated d├ęcor. $150 per night was worth. I should have stayed with Red Roof In for $65 per night and rooms and facility would have been the same. I would like warn everyone to stay away from this Crooket hotel. Save your money and stay at the motel instead of this so called "hotel".

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay. We take our feedback to heart and share with all of our staff so we can continue to improve our product and service. We do charge $20 + tax for parking. This is a daily amount and is lower than any of our neighboring hotels by nearly $7-10 per night. We continue to try to maintain a reasonable parking fee, rather than add it to our room rates (as nearly 1/2 of our guests do not arrive with a vehicle). We continue to update our 105 year old historic property. We will use your comments as we plan our future updates and renovations. Thank you again for your post visit review.

Pros: Great locaton, great staff.
Cons: Valet Parking
Location: Alamo, shopping, carriage rides, river walk.
The hotel has one of the best locations in town. My wife and I had a great room, very roomy, however the room for my son and his wife and 2 children was very small. If I were doing it over I would try and get two rooms like the one I had, with a King bed and pull out couch. The staff seemed very nice, the rooms are clean. The only problem we had is our rear view on one of the cars was hanging off the windshield. I believe that paying $20.00 per night per car to be parked in an open air lot, open to the public is just wrong, but I am sure that is the best the hotel could arrange.

Great location horrible room.

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The location of the hotel was great.
Cons: The beds and bedding need to upgraded!
Location: The hotel is across the street from all the attractions walking distance.
The location of the hotel was great it was right across the street from all the attractions. The first impression was nice the lobby was clean and well maintained and the front desk staff was friendly. The beds are not comfortable at all. The covers are very itchy and did not seem to be very clean. Needless to say the nights spent at this hotel were sleepless nights. Our two children did not even sleep well because they complained how uncomfortable the beds were. The breakfast was mediorce and there was not enough seating for all of the guests. The rooms are not worth the price. Do your research and find a nicer hotel!

Thank you for being our recent guest. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve our product for future visitors. We usually get great comments about our housekeeping department. They are a very dedicated staff working to keep the hotel in tip top shape. The linen package is brand new as of this spring and we use an off site laundry service for linen cleaning. We will share with them your thoughts on the linens and perhaps can adjust the softener used at this time of year (high heat and humidity may require more softener use). We will work to provide a better experience for our future guests. We are dedicated to quality service and product for all of our visitors. Your feedback is certainly helpful to those efforts.

Great access to Alamo and Riverwalk

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Historic/accessible to Alamo and riverwalk.
Cons: Accurate description of bed size.
Location: Alamo and riverwalk
Although clean and historic, be sure to check on accuracy of room description regarding bed that you will need for your stay. Expedia lists Queen bed in room for two adults. Not accurate! There is a full size bed in room, not Queen. When I asked manager about discrepancy, he simply said that floor plan lists bed size as a queen and that no other rooms were available. After we did final check out and spoke with the manager personally, he said-Oh, we didn't offer you a roll out bed? Uh, no??? You simply said in your voice mail to room, "that is a queen size bed and we have no other rooms available". Did not want to ruin my vacation by arguing with manager and we made do this time!

Nice Hotel

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: location.
Cons: parking pri
Location: Riverwalk, Alamo, Lots of great food places.
Overall nice hotel. Friendly staff. The rooms were a little older but love the atmosphere of the hotel. The only down side was the lights coming through the shades. We like it real dark when we sleep, but that was a small issue. The parking is pricey and when we parked we say parking for visitors was cheaper than what we paid per night with no limit to the times visitors could park. That seems a little backward. The pool is very small, but considering location of the hotel it is understandable. The location was great. Cross the street to the Rivercenter Mall and your at the Riverwalk It is a nice, quiet hotel, great location, great staff. I woudl stay there again.

Very Nice Hotel with Great Location

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Location was perfect. The hotel also offered a nice ambience - not the usual cookie cutter, big chain property. Small, quiet pool area.
Cons: It would be nice to have had an option to "self park" to save money.
Location: Across the street from the Alamo and a lot of the tourist attractions like Ripley's, IMAX, and walking distance to the Riverwalk.
Was looking for a hotel that was conveniently located and reasonably priced for a birthday weekend with my husband. The Crockett hotel was a quaint retreat in the middle of everything! Location could not be better - literally right across the street from the Alamo and a very short walk to the Riverwalk. If you are looking for a grand hotel with expansive grounds and amenities - this is not it. The standard (queen) guest room was smaller than expected however provided us with everything we needed (in room coffee, flat screen tv, free breakfast however no mini bar at least in this sized room). The staff was very nice and everything was neat and clean....which is a big deal to me.
