Nice hotel but not a 'resort' hotel

We booked the Grand Hyatt just to see how it compared to the normal luxury hotel we normally stay at on the Riverwalk. In a brief, there is nothing that I would classify as Grand about the Grand Hyatt. It is a nice hotel, but nothing extraordinary if compared to any other hotel like a Holiday Inn or Best Western in regards to the room. It has a very nice Lobby, and other amenities, but you don't sleep in those.

Review of Grand Hyatt, San Antonio, TX

Pros: We have no complaints at all about the hotel. Everything was perfect.
Location: The hotel is near the Alamo, the riverwalk, and numerous shops.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. We were within close walking distance to the attractions we were interested in, and we would definately return to the Grand Hyatt.

The location is right off the interstate and is on the riverwalk. Great rooms and service.

They gave my room away..

Pros: The short time I was there. It was a nice hotel on the River Walk. other than that I have nothing good to say...
Cons: Don't give away reserved rooms. Or upgrade my reservation because my room was given away and they screwed up. Customer Service needs improvement!
Location: Its located next to a bunch of other hotels that would have done more to help than this place. lots of places to eat...
Being away on business the last 2 months. I had the opportunity to meet my GF in San Antonio for a night. I booked a deluxe room w/ a King bed at the Grand Hyatt at least a month in advance. We checked in went to our room to discover a much smaller room with two small 'full size' beds in it... I called down to the front desk. Told the receptionist I was in the wrong room and that there was a mistake. She tells me they gave all the deluxe rooms away and there were none left. I obviously asked for the manager. only to be told the same exact thing.. How could they give my room away when I had already reserved it and payed for it?? Beyond me. Without making a scene or ruining my night I let it go for the time being. Again the only night with the girl before I had to be back for work. I would have been happy with a upgrade or something else to entice me to come back.. a simple apology will not cut it. My girl and I made do with the little bed but were obviously uncomfortable all night. Thanks for nothing Grand Hyatt.. Your costumer service is in serious need. I saw a bunch of other hotels in the area that I'm sure would have accommodated me. Two Thumbs WAYY DOWN!!!

I might not use them again

Pros: People were nice
Cons: I know not possible but that cheap a/c system.
Location: Good location. Next to riverwalk, mall, and Catholic church.
For some this is not an issue, but when hotel rooms use the water chiller system for an a/c it means it does not get very cold and more importantly does not pull the humidity out of the air, so we tossed and turned for three nights. Also, don't let the pictures fool you. there might be two pools on property but the top one is for the apartments on top of the hotel so the bottom gets the crowd and no view. My kids were looking forward to the top one and the view. Oh well, no access. Also, it was after 5 when the cleaning crew came by to do our room. We returned before they cleaned and so when they arrived we just asked for clean towels and emptied the trash cans.
