very friendly hotel staff

so we were checking in one hour early the hotel staff held a room for us near the pool. Which was a great delight for the next 4 days. The only time about being near the pool is that the room tends to be must be from wet carpet. I believe this has triggered my 7 year old daughter's allergies and she's very uncomfortable even after we've been home for a week.

Convenient hotel near Market Square & River Walk

Pros: Location
Cons: Facilities and room need a little remodeling, carpets look a bit dirty... bathroom ceiling has problems with moisture. Water in bathtub runs very slow
Location: Lots of things to do nearby. Excellent location!
Excellent location if you're looking for a hotel near the River Walk (just a few blocks) and the market square. Facilities and cleanliness of hotel, and room in particular, were a bit disappointing. The hotel Staff was very nice, though, always willing to help. I would stay again in the hotel if I was looking to save a bit and not pay a much more expensive hotel right by the River Walk and Downtown San Antonio.

Not worth it--very noisy and outdated

Pros: Close to I-10/35/37 highways, 10 minute walk to Mi Tierra Mexican restaurant.
Cons: The doors need to be better soundproofed! Outdated, inefficient AC. Curtains (only had a sheen drape) so you were basically exposed 24/7
Location: San Antonio DPS HQ, Mi Tierra... Everything else requires a cab/shuttle or rental car--good luck on parking downtown if you leave the hotel!
Check-in on 7/12/14 was simple. Not close to Riverwalk (thought it was 0.5 miles or closer). Need to take hotel courtesy shuttle (operates until 9PM Tues-Sat). Cab fare back from Riverwalk is about $8 tip. Small signage telling you no shuttle service on Sun/Mon after asking an employee when it would be arriving (didn't know the schedule herself) and waited 30 minutes. Room doors are not soundproof in the least. Slamming doors, people yelling in hallways, damp/moldy room. Felt like I was in a Motel 6! Didn't eat in the restaurant or bar area. Rooms were usually humid like those in an average hotel in the Philippines or Thailand. The AC was horrible--ran for 10 minutes, off for 10 minutes--for the entire 3 days! Clothes were always damp in room. No fridge in the room as anticipated from staying at Holiday Inn Town Lake (Austin). We were recommended to eat at Rosario's Mexican restaurant off St. Mary's St. It was horribly loud, supposedly more locals than tourists, food was ok but drinks were insanely expensive. No prices on drink menu--you are forewarned! Dinner for 2 (1 meal and an appetizer) plus 3 regular margaritas and 1 jumbo with tip = $98! So many other places to eat--don't waste your time at Rosario's After check-in the concierge tried INCESSANTLY to get us to do a Wyndham Resorts tour. I finally had to be rude and tell them to keep their tour and "free" trip. I've only been hassled as much at the Cancun and Cabo San Lucas airports!

Hotel was ok, a little dated, but is expected with the price. No problems with staff, everyone was friendly, room was clean, and kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. Would stay again.

Hotel not on Riverwalk as described.

Had to move to another room upon check in as 1st room had a leak & carpet was soaked. Staff moved us to another room. Hotel appears pretty outdated, one of the elevators was not functioning. The layout of the hotel not the most ideal. Hotel offered shuttle to the river walk, however just like the hotel being outdated the shuttles also need some tlc, especially when the ac not functioning well. Staff was very friendly though.

Overview of our stay

Pros: Location, The shuttle to downtown, and some of the staff.
Cons: See the first post. General maintenance and new management or training for the entire staff in the dining area. Make it a destination.
Location: The location is perfect and close to all the attractions.
The staff was pleasant and tried however they lacked training and tools. The dining experience was the worst I've had in a long time. Food coming out either burned or still raw. This is an area that is really in need of attention. The bartender while very pleasant shouldn't have been in that position yet she couldn't identify basic types of wine. Serving a red when a white was ordered etc... The breakfast buffet was poor at best and we would have been better served with a waffle iron and a do it yourself kitchen. The wait staff has no training or idea of what they should be doing and we were treated as if we were a bother rather then a customer. We originally booked a king room and were given a room with 2 queen beds not the end of the world but not what we wanted with no attempt to correct it. The hotel it self is in need of repairs an basic maintenance. It was clean and served it's purpose but could have been a far more pleasant experience. My suggestion is to have the owner book a stay and see for themselves what the experience is.

My son and I arrived at the hotel about 10 minutes after the set check in time and the lobby was packed with people checking in the staff had 4 people behind the desk helping everyone get checked in and it went very quickly. My desk clerk then sent us over to the concierge desk to get some discounts to use around town and give us directions around town to different attractions and restaurants.

I enjoyed my stay, the room was clean and comfortable. I really liked that it was close to many attractions but not too close to be inconvenienced by the noise, traffic, etc.
