Ask for room with a view.

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Slept great in comfortable bed, nice bathroom and nice staff
Cons: please give women a ride to and from parking. Several times I was passed by so they could pick up a male golfer to take to the parking lot
Location: Shopping at LaCantera Shops, Bobs Steak and Chop House is awesome.
The hotel is nice. It was not what I expected however. They picked a beautiful hill high above the city, you can see the hotel when driving and it looks awesome. The hotel is up on a hill, but some of the most beautiful views are from the parking lot. They built this hotel on top of a hill and dug a hole to put it in. The 1st and 2nd floor is below ground, so feels like a basement. The lobby is 3rd floor. So be sure to ask for a room with a view and don't expect all rooms to have one. Or with families you may prefer a room that leads to or looks a the beautiful pools. It was too cool when I was there to enjoy the pool. Looks great. Enjoyed being close to shopping and hope to be back for golf and Fiesta Texas.

La Cantera Hill Country resort

Pros: Very comfortable hotel nice location near the Mall
Location: Shoppng Mall and Eateries
Very nice hotel, great pools and fintenss centre, staff very pleasant and helpful. We were there during the week which was very pleaceful and quiet. We were leaving for home on the Saturday, however on the Friday night returning from dinner, there was a huge long line of vehicles waiting to be Valet Parked - it would seem that everyone arrives there at the weekend and then the staff seemed to be a little stretched. The shuttle bus service to and from the Shopping Mall was also very good with helpful drivers and my wife used this service too and was very please with it. The room was excellent with lots of plugs for electronic devices, maintenance brought me a mini fridge in which to keep my medication refridgerated, the bathroom was great with twin washbasins and a seperate toilet. Most of all lots of drawers and closet space.

We loved the kids club!!! Very welcoming! Henrietta's market had everything we needed for a quick grab n go snack. The shuttle to the shops was timely and so convenient.

Aging property both in and out.

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Rooms not sound proof enough, hallways noisy all thru the night. Rooms need upgrade immediately compared to same price properties in this area. Signage is poor and need better guides on amenities throughout. I had not been to this property since I married in March 2002, and the age is definitely showing. If improved would love to return again.

Thank you for your candid comments about your recent visit. In November 2014, the resort will temporarily suspend overnight accommodations until April, 2015 for a tremendous transformation, which includes the creation of brand new sparking pools, restaurants, bars and outdoor spaces, as well as a new arrival experience, lobby and guest check in. The resort's two award winning golf courses and 19th hole restaurants will be open throughout the transformation. We look forward to welcoming you to the new La Cantera Hill Country Resort. Hill country escape

Posted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: Different activities for every age, excellent venue for social events.
Cons: Menu options were great but more variety or a grill poolside.
Location: .5 miles from Six flags Fiesta Texas, Shops of La Cantera, Multiple restaurants, golf course
The resort was beautiful and very kid friendly. I brought my girls, ages 8 & 11 for a weekend getaway. We enjoyed Fiesta Texas and the proximity of the resort location to the park, shops and multiply restaurants made for a very fun weekend. The resort shuttle took us to 6 Flags so there was no parking hassle. They also picked up promptly. We even had the option of returning back to the hotel to rest, eat, change etc or just take a break from the heat and crowd of the park. The multiple pools at the resort, hiking trail and kids center were wonderful. We ate at the poolside often with excellent service. The highlight of the trip for the girls was the s'mores on the fire pit poolside each evening! The atmosphere, beautiful people, attentive staff and comfortable accommodations were such that we really did not want to leave. Highly recommend for couples as well.

Elegant but slightly neglected

Posted Oct 3, 2014
Pros: The proximity to I10 and The Shops at La Cantera.
Cons: Common areas, especially the patios, are in serious need of attention. The pools looked nice but I think, for kids, you can find a much better place.
Location: Good location for accessing both downtown and The a Hill Country towns. Fredericksburg should not be missed. We visited 4 wineries and Luckenbach.
Our recent three night stay was pleasant enough but I'm not sure it was worth the rate (including taxes and fees) we paid per night. Our room reflected the classic style they are going for, and was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Carpets in the hallways needed vacuuming in places. Landscaped areas and fountains looked neglected and the exercise room was lame. In fact I would say the common areas need more attention than the rooms. The staff, on the other hand, was helpful, friendly and seemed well trained. It wasn't a bad experience. It's just that I was expecting so much more.

Hotel needs a little updating. The room phone was a little abused and the TV remote was very slow. The views are great and staff service is good.
