Tiny room/Many bathroom issuesPosted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: Honestly, nothing. Location to the convention center and Alamo was good and the staff were kind, but those are the only positives.
Cons: Counter space in bathrooms. Could put the coffee maker in there as well. New shelves under the mirror that don't have ill placed bolts. Plunge tubs!
Location: I only went to the convention center, Riverwalk, and a couple restaurants.
I stayed at the hotel 4/20/15 for two nights in a one bed (double, not even queen) room. The staff was nice and helpful, the room, however, was tiny. The door missed the corner of the bed by inches when opened. The room had all the amenities expected but no room for any of it. The coffee maker was forced to be on the small desk and I had little room for my ironing board. The bathroom was typical exept NO COUNTER SPACE. I was able to put a couple items in the corners of the sink. There was a tiny shelf under the mirror but 3/4 of it was spent holding a tray with a wash rag, signs, and the typical soaps, lotions, and shampoos. The few leftover inches left on the sides of that shelf had "knobs" that stuck up about 1/4" creating an uneven space difficult to use. Then, the shower, also tiny, would not drain quickly. I was only able to take about 5 minute showers before the water level was dangerously close to spilling over the edge of the tub. Lastly, the shower curtain constantly blew in against the side of my body forcing me to keep one hand available to keep the curtain from sticking to me. I hate bathrooms that don't have vents and require you to leave the door open so you don't step into a fog after showering. The water pressure was great, though. Overall, I was quite unpleased with this room. I understand the history of this hotel, but they have a lot of updating to do to that room to make it comfortable. I have two coworkers who have had pleasant stays at the hotel.

Perfect Location....Posted Apr 22, 2015
Cons: The water drainage in the bathroom sink and tub could be improved, very slow to drain.
All we had to do was walk out the front door of the hotel and we were within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the mall, the visitors center, the Riverwalk and buses or trolleys. It is a perfect location to get anywhere within the city. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Ok. But historical marker adds money to stayPosted Apr 21, 2015
It was a clean but very old hotel. Many presidents have stayed there but very few renovations have been done. The walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING!!!! Would recommend but only if you get a good deal on the price. Location can't be beat right across the street from the Alamo and adjacent to the downtown mall

Tiny Room. No Free Parking. No Free Breakfast.Posted Apr 20, 2015
Definitely not worth the nearly $200 per night that I paid for the smallest hotel room I've ever crammed into. Honestly I should have slept in my truck. Which by the way cost me $30 per day to keep parked in their garage. Absolutely zero free parking. No free breakfast. The entire hotel lobby felt like a mini mall with all the shops. The room was clean and the staff was friendly to a team member. Besides that the only redeeming quality of this otherwise underwhelming hotel is its proximity to the river walk. Next stay in San Antonio will be at something a little more modern in its convenience as well as its approach to modern visitor expectations. Like holiday inn.

The hotel was across the street from the Alamo.Posted Apr 18, 2015
Pros: It is close to the Alamo and to the River Walk.
Cons: The rooms were small but not an issue.
Location: It's a perfect location for what we were there for. To see the Alamo and the River Walk.
From the time we pulled in to park our car the staff took control. Our car, our luggage, which they delivered directly to our room. Excellent!

Like sleeping in the streets!Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: History was kind of cool. The Colonial restaurant had wonderful waitstaff and the food was delicious and not expensive.
Cons: Cleanliness and updates while keeping the nostalgia.
Location: We love the Worm Tequila Bar with great infused tequilas and blues music.......we also tried some of the newer restaurants like The Boiler Room Yummy!
Although it was easy to walk to the riverwalk and some fun local entertainment, the hotel was very noisy. People in the hallways were extremely loud each night and the people walking by outside were also loud. We could even hear our next door neighbor relieving himself in his bathroom. It was freezing in the room even though we had the air OFF but the fan would not stop blowing. There was mildew along the window panes and in the bathroom tiles. The carpeting was filthy. Even after my shower, walking around in the room barefooted made my feet dirty. Outside our door was a lovely bucket with a dirty towel shoved in it to catch the falling water from the watered down ceiling above. While the history of the place was nostalgic, my memories hopefully will soon be as well. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
