Menger Hotel, San Antonio

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Staff, Beautiful lobby Comfortable rooms Proximity to all attractions and River Walk.
Cons: Adding a coffee shop in the lobby would be nice for a middle of the day break.
Location: The location was perfect for getting to the River Walk and other attractions around the city. .
What a lovely hotel! Every single one of the staff we encountered was super friendly and knowledgeable. They take the idea of tourism industry seriously. Our room was small but comfortable. The restaurant was wonderful! You could tell the wait staff had been thoroughly trained in customer service. So friendly, professional and enjoyable! Front desk staff professional and courteous. Valet service extremely friendly. We loved the attention from all the staff!

I wish I would have booked straight with the hotel. They had a cheaper special and it included free breakfast.

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Staff helped us out on any issues or problems..We had a late check in and they took care of us.
Cons: Food - I eat lots of furits and that what I think they need more of.
Location: Great location and right place for all the things we wanted to do.
We had a great visit to San Antonio and the hotel was great. Will stay there again. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit..The Riverwalk and others..

Pros: swimming pool is heated and luxurious; reasonable room service prices; quick valet
Cons: new carpet in rooms; fix the damp musty smell
Location: Riverwalk
Room smelled musty; satellite tv signal was blurry all the time; ice machine did not work on 4th floor; the victorian lobby is under construction and stuffed with scaffolding

Perfect spot

Posted Jun 16, 2015
It was beautiful hotel, and in a great spot. The rooms need a little up keep and nicer decor to fit inside hotel. They forgot my room service but second person coming in gave me free ice cream and was very quick to fix problem.

Beautiful Historic Hotel

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: I love the character of the hotel and the historic feel.
Cons: Yes it is a Historic hotel but the rooms had a bit of a worn feel to them. The food at the restaurant was ok but I probably wouldn't eat there again.
Location: The location was great! Right next to the Alamo and very close to the Riverwalk.
I took my Mom and Stepfather to San Antonio to visit the Alamo, and because they both enjoy history I decided to stay at the Menger Hotel.

ThIs Hotel is very overpriced for its condition.

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: Connivence
Cons: Up grade the beds and bathrooms
Location: you can walk to the Alamo and River Walk. Other than that you have an adjacent street full of the typical tourist attractions.
The room we had was badly in need or renovation. The mattress were worn old extremely soft with little to no support. The bath room door would not close due to many layers of paint and rust. The only thing the hotel has going for it is the connivence of being within walking distance of the Alamo and River Walk.

History Lover's Dream

Posted Jun 13, 2015
Pros: I could feel the history everywhere I roamed. It was almost like being transported back in time. The Menger Bar was fabulous too.
Cons: I have nothing negative to comment on.
Location: The Alamo is right across the street as well as a mall and entrance to the Riverwalk.
I loved this hotel based on it's historical significance. If you do not enjoy taking a trip back to the past, this hotel is probably not for you. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean.

Next to the Alamo

Posted Jun 9, 2015
We have stayed here on 8 separate occasions Rooms are small, but she is over 150 yet as old so no big deal for us. Room this time was looking a little shabby. Poor service at breakfast with only 5 of us it took us hailing down a waiter. Ordered eggs and bacon that took 20 mins, then they brought the wrong order and we had to wait another 10. All while the hostess listened to her voice mails on speaker. Skip the restaurant.

Menger

Posted Jun 9, 2015
Pros: Nice Sunday brunch. Historical side interesting but it was being renovated so we couldn't really see it clearly. Disappointing!
Cons: Price for parking ridiculous.
Location: On the plus side it was located close to River Walk and attractions. Nice breakfast buffet on Sunday.
Not worth the price you pay. Rooms not much better than a moderately priced hotel. No hair dryer in bath room. Door chipped. Coffee, nothing special.
