Nice location in downtown SA

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: Room could use more lights, tub could use a plug, a phone by the bed would be nice.
Location: Nice location, close to the Riverwalk, about 3 or so blocks from the Alamo. The Majestic Theater is right across the street.
The hotel was well located - not directly on the Riverwalk but you can get to it a block away. The valet parking is pricy but the nice attendants point out that you can self park in a City of SA parking garage across the street for a good price. You pay a premium for the location. Could have just been the room I was in, but it wasn't what I hoped for. For one thing, there was only one phone, and it was on the desk, not next to the bed. Didn't help matters that I got a wrong number at 1 am and had to get up and find the phone. There was no lamp at the desk so the lighting was bad. No plug in the bathtub, so it was shower only. And the bathroom mirror was too low, I could only see my chin, so had to squat down to shave. All in all, not a bad room, just paid quite a bit for a so-so room.

San Antonio, a day early.

Posted Aug 18, 2014
We planned a weekend at the Emily Morgan, arriving Saturday, but I talked my girlfriend into going a day early. We managed to get a room at the Gunter and I'm glad we did. The hotel was rich in history, charming, and elegant. We only stayed one night there, but we will definitely be back.

Nice location, hotel parking with only vallet

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: location and pet friendly.
Cons: making sure the rooms are cleaned in time to allow for early check in as requested. more air circulation in bathrooms and in the room itself.
Location: near a couple of parks and almost right on the river walk. Just about 6 blocks from the market. Very European area
Pet friendly hotel. Made reservations for early sign in. Arrived around 2:30, instead of being shown to our room we had to wait until about 3 PM which is the normal check in time. Room was clean and tidy. Found soiled towels behind bathroom door. Did not have much time to use any of the facilities. Close to riverwalk and other attractions. Had to park across the street, unless we wanted vallet parking. The parking area did not belong to the hotel, and only mentioned that they were not responsible for andy lost or damages incurred to you vehicle.

Wish the staff would have helped more with directions to local attractions and resturants. Great experience for grandkids and family.

Hotel was close to the river walk which was great.

We checked in well after 3:00 pm and my room wasn't ready waited another 30 mins before I could get into a room. when I got into my room we noticed there was a leak in the bathroom, when I asked the hotel staff there response was are you sure, uh yeah not only can you hear the dropping but you can clearly see that it was leaking. Waited another 1 1/2 before they could let me know what was going on. I finally asked to be moved and I was moved within 10 mins

Excellent hotel with great location

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Location is excellent, and the hotel honors its history.
Cons: Towels were skimpy. It was clean, but not meticulously cleaned.
Location: The Gunter is in the heart of downtown San Antonio, near the Riverwalk, the Alamo, and downtown theatres.
This beautiful old hotel has been well maintained. The staff was efficient and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean. You can't beat the location!

Pros: Convenient to theTheater across the street.
You(Expedia), showed that I booked the last available "Accessible" room. When we arrived, none were available. I complained and we got one on the 11th floor, which could almost have passed for an over-sized closet! The bathroom was just fine, but the room itself was so tight that our luggage (airline, overhead bin size) could just barely pass between the corner of the bed and a table. Room #1102 to be exact. Our last stay had us in a huge, delightful room, albeit not handicapped. They no longer have a complete dinner menu, and we politely left our table to dine elsewhere.

Warren, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I regret that there was some confusion during the booking process and that your room was not the same size as your last visit. We have changed the menu in Market on Houston to reflect a smaller menu that allows us to offer even higher quality ingredients. We hope to have a chance to welcome you back again and provide the service you are accustomed to with us. Enjoy today! Emily P Dailey Portfolio Reputation Manager - Sheraton Gunter

Hotel was nice outside but the room was busted.

Posted Jul 28, 2014
The room never cooled, the iron was broke, the bathroom looked like a public restroom, the bathtub had cracks on the hardware, the bedding smelled bad, and they didn't let us use the luggage carts. I will never stay at the Sheraton again.
