Fantastico!Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Loved that the Hotel has much history behind it. Walking distance to the ALAMO and River Walk. Great food and drinks.
Cons: I cannot think of a thing!
Location: It was easy to find and drive to. Valet parking was terrific. Walking distance to the ALAMO and River Walk. Great food and drinks.
The three of us; myself, my sister, and my cousin all had a great time. The Menger is a wonderful piece of history and it is very well maintained. Very clean rooms and terrific staff. The showers were clean and water hot. The beds were comfy. All of it was grand!

We had a good stay.Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The history displays & loveliness of the building. Access to the center of activities is a bonus and good valet (pricey). Nice free boarding pass.
Cons: Work on the odor by the old bar. Allow for a Sunday meal option. There was a piano but no one played. We had a few panhandlers outside.
Location: Wonderful city and fabulous array of things to do. Advertise Enchanted Ranch and Aldo's restaurant as an outing worth doing. Loved them.
Very minor problem with key not working and a slow sink in bathroom. The staff was excellent and the hotel is charming. We decided not to go in the pool that was pretty cold. We thought the bar was beautiful but being by the bathrooms it seemed to have a weird odor. We had drinks elsewhere. Food in the dining room was wonderful. Sunday we got up late and missed a la carte and didn't want a full blown buffet. We wanted coffee and sweet rolls or a small breakfast. This hotel is fabulous in location being across from the Alamo, most transportation options, the River Walk and IMAX which had a great feature on The Alamo. The people who work there are very gracious and helpful.

The room was too smallPosted Sep 11, 2014
At the price of the room it was too small, had no coffee pot no micro wave or refrigerator and the temperature could not be adjusted so it was so cold that my wife and I came down with sore throats the staff was terrible at giving directions

Close to down townPosted Sep 3, 2014
Shower head sprayed water all over the bathroom, tub wouldn't drain while trying to shower, was charged an extra $50 a night upon check in and the total cost for valet parking for my stay even though I wasn't goin to use it the entire stay which equaled to over $300 I wasn't told I. Would be charged for. Little single cup coffee maker that would spill coffee everywhere but the cup. The only decent thing about the hotel was it was close to the river walk and had a nice commons area.

Pros: Much history, art and antique displays and fixtures. Nice open garden area.
Cons: The bar was packed with a boisterous younger crowd. It would have been better for us new "empty nesters" had their been more space, or a separate bar
Location: Across the street from the Alamo and family entertainment, and only minutes away on foot from the Riverwalk.
We arrived late and regret we didn't have time to enjoy the hotel accommodations and features as much as we should have. It was nice to have a souvenir store on site as well as a bar, although the historic bar was loud and crowded, and for that reason is more suited to a younger dating crowd. We were across the street from the Alamo and family entertainment and only minutes on foot from the Riverwalk. A very convenient location for seeing downtown San Antonio. I would recommend it to anyone who is coming to San Antonio, especially if only staying one night.

Great historic hotel.Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Hi historical nature and it was close to the Convention Center.
Cons: The shower was a bit old fashioned. Of course, that's the point of an historic hotel.
Location: The Alamo.
If you want history, this hotel is for you. Ghosts and all!

Historic HotelPosted Aug 31, 2014
Location: Alamo, Riverwalk
The hotel is an historic hotel next door to the Alamo. If you are looking for classic this place is for you. The room was small and the bathroom was for one. Closet door and bathroom door can't be open at the same time but the lobby and staff made up for the size of the room. We had a front room and thought it would be loud but didn't hear a thing.
