Nice hotel close to River Walk

Posted Nov 20, 2014
I was only there one night on business--unseasonably cold so didn't stroll the River Walk. Had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant (which, on a Monday night, was practically empty). My main gripe: driving in at night alone, without someone to navigate, I circled the hotel twice knowing I had to be in the right place before I saw a sign on the building. Hard to tell where to park--finally saw what turned out to be the valet parking area but no one was there. Passed through and circled the block again--never saw the parking garage but I know there is one. Ended up valet parking for $28 (parking in the garage would have been $23 something). There were no tips for parking on the website--I checked beforehand. Parking at a hotel in DT San Antonio is always going to be an issue, but does it have to be so hard to find?

Disappointed in hotel

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Staff was excellent.
Location: Location was downtown and there was nothing to do nearby.
Even though the hotel is on the San Antonio Riverwalk, there is nothing in that area of the Riverwalk. Also it is located within 1 block of the Bus station, so homeless people walking back & forth. Did not feel safe outside the hotel alone. No refrigerator in room. Restaurant overpriced.

At 2o'clock in the evening there was a fire alarm

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: The staff was very accommodating.
We got several messages, some to stay in the room some to leave. After 10 minutes there was another alarm to evacuate our rooms. We all gathered in the restaurant. It's took another 20 minutes to be told that we could go back to our rooms. Apparently, someone pulled the fire alarm on the 17 floor. Whereas, I understand this could happen, it would be good if the messages were consistent, as well as timely.

Hotel Stay In SA

Posted Nov 16, 2014
Pros: Location
Location: it's right on the SA riverwalk
Hotel was very clean and the staff was couteous and professional. Especially Diane in the counceige service. My only negative comment would be regarding the fact that I had to pay $2 per cup of coffee even though I was a hotel guest. I did not make the coffee in my room and as I'm a smoker, I would get a cup of "to go" coffee every morning and walk outside to the fountain to smoke. As a guest, I should not have to pay for coffe in the lobby. It should be complementary as it is at other hotels.

Handy for the Riverwalk.

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Its convenience for central San Antonio
Cons: The cost for overnight parking
The bar staff and valet staff were very pleasant and friendly. The guy who checked me in was a little on the rude side.

Close to Riverwalk

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: Closeness to Riverwalk.
Cons: More staff to clean rooms, free wifi & free parking with hotel stay.
Location: Alamo, riverwalk -boat tour, restaurants, tolley tour etc.
Hotel was clean & nice. The food in hotel restaurant was good. Spouse enjoyed convenience of bar,; breakfast buffet was great. Under staffed with the cleaning department. Had to ask for clean towels. There was no free wifi in rooms & expected free parking with 2 day stay. Overall, visit was enjoyable.

Very disappointing

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: For as far off the beaten path as it is and location you would think they would want to offer some type of incentive to stay
Location: Walk a long ways to get to where there was anything to do
There are absolutely no fringes at this hotel - they don't even have hair dryers in the rooms. We were never given enough coffee, towels or washcloths. When i went down the first morning to get more coffee I was asked if i would like a cup of the coffee sitting on the concierge desk and after giving it to me and letting me put the cream and sugar in it i was informed that would be $2.00! REALLY????? It is way off the beaten path of the Riverwalk as to restaurants and shops and located in a very sketchy part of town - wouldn't walk there after dark. The rooms are very tiny and we were hot at night even though the thermostat was turned down low. Walls are paper thin - heard the neighbors very clear. The only thing this place has going for it is it has a very friendly staff. Lastly, we had to walk down 10 flights of stairs because we couldn't catch an elevator that wasn't full.

Great hotel, but parking charges are horrible! Hotel is on the riverwalk but you have to walk about 10 mins down to the rivercenter and restaurants.

Great location, close to all downtown bars, restaurants. Went to a concert at the Aztec theater and it was just 4 blocks away
