Great rustic hotel.Posted Jun 11, 2015
Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hacienda was a fantastic rustic hotel a little off the beaten path. The restaurant was very good. The hotel staff were fantastic, friendly and always very helpful. The scenery was breathtaking. We had a great time. I would recommend a sturdy vehicle if you are driving. Our economy rental car had a bit of a hard time on the road to the hotel. Otherwise, I highly recommend Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hacienda.

Amazing, Beautiful, Peaceful, ComfortablePosted Apr 11, 2015 on Hotels
An amazing location off the beaten path in the rainforest. Absolutely beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxing. Service was friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was quite good. Enjoyed a nighttime nature hike. Room was large and comfortably accomodated our party of four. You could spend days at this property wight leaving. About a 20 minute drive to La Fortuna. Dirt road to the hotel was no problem. We loved this property. It was our favorite.

Rainforest adventurePosted Mar 12, 2015
Overall the hotel was great. The staff was friendly and helpful and were able to accommodate my picky eating preferences (making dishes healthier and some off menu requests). The rooms lacked a mini fridge, TV and A/C, however the ceiling fan was able to keep our rooms cool at night. The side road to the hotel was bumpy and added about 15-20 minutes to travel time when coming and going but once you were on the main road the city was very close by. For an outdoor adventure trip, such as the one we partook in, it was great and added to our experience. If you are looking for a place to be pampered and primmed, however, it would not be the hotel for you.

Nice place but roaches in my bedroom =(Posted Feb 23, 2015 on Hotels
great place to stay with amazing grounds. small restaurant menu and breakfast starts at 7am ( quite late if you are up to go for adventure tours). Cockroaches in my bungalow didn't give me good sleep though.

Excellent property, staff very cold & unwelcomingPosted Dec 3, 2014
The staff member at reception seemed unwelcoming. She seemed to be bothered by our questions. At arrival we were handed a paper and a key. We were really liking far ward to the guided tours within the property but there was no guide for the entire duration of our stay. The woman at the reception only said "we dont have the guide for the next 2 days" the property has very beautiful trails and a guide is almost a must so one can see birds and look for other things in the forest. To sum it up excellent property. Wish the staff was good. Also food at the restaurant is only ok. Not great at all. The restaurant staff also seemed very cold.

Dommage !!!

Good Establishment, However not as AdvertisedPosted Jan 25, 2014 on Hotels
I would rate this place as Good. It is a bit far from everything, requires a 4X4 to get to it. It is well maintained and the gardens and surroundings are beautiful. On the other hand, our room was advertized as having a spa tub, as well as a shower with a handle and free internet and wheel chair accessible. Unfortunately the internet doesn't reach the room, and there was no spa tub, nor the shower that was advertized, and it was definitely not wheel chair accessible. I would rate the restaurant as Ok, and we felt that for the breakfast, the staff was rather stingy (you basically have to insist to get more food) and for whatever reason, some people would get butter and jam, while others wouldn't... We don't think we would go back to that hotel in the future given the price.

lush rainforest hotelPosted Apr 3, 2013
Pros: very imbedded with nature, peaceful
Cons: food was okay
Location: nice to be out of a town, the 2k road is a rough ride
We loved CRH. Such a beautiful place. We got a bungalow for a family of 4 and it was fine. The staff was very nice and efficient. The grounds are amazing. We did lots of walks around the grounds and on the trails. A sloth lived in a tree behind the restaurant for a few days which was amazing! We saw lots of fantastic birds and butterflies. The road to the hotel is really bumpy/rocky. I recommend a 4 wheel drive. It is a really special place and so nice to retreat to after a big day of zip lining, hiking or hot springing. We stayed 5 nights.
