Good for the backpacker

Posted Jul 6, 2015
In the San Diego downtown. Is very convenient to go To the Mid way by walk or go other place via bus or subway. It is available to check in 24 hours. But no car parking.

Disappointed

Posted Jul 3, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Rip out carpeting
Location: Beaches
Location good. I don't no where the pictures of the rooms came from. Not from this hostel. That's right hostel not hotel.

Middle of city hotel.

Access to Harborside. Close to the Gas Lamp District. Beds were comfy. But carpet looked ragged, room smelled questionable, elevator was a joke, no pool, bath down the hall. On the cheap? Not bad. Wanna do SD right? Go elsewhere

A hotel that's really a hostel

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Advertises as a hotel, and shows pictures of nice rooms that are somewhat spacious and have bright colored comforters and can sleep 2! In reality it's a hostel with twin beds dark rooms and very bland and gross lookong. My first thought going up the elevators to the room was this looks like one of those old motels you see in scary movies. It was very unpleasant. The place also was supposed to give me a room with 2 beds and I only got a room with one, so my friend and I had to decide who was sleeping g on the floor. Over all not a good experience.

Not a hotel, this is a HOSTEL

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Awful. The hostel is literally the worst thing. It's run down, tiny, totally misleading from the pictures. The elevator shakes, the walls have paint peeling, it's awful.

next to train station

Posted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: I like the privacy at a single traveler price. I like the maintaining integrity of the historical aspect of the building.
Cons: On of the toilets on the floor remained clogged all night. The elevator was a little scary.
Location: The train station was next door.
The pictures on Expedia are far from reality. I think if it was advertised correctly, I would have responded more positively. It was okay for 12 hours before I caught the train to LA.

Excellent location, staff. Hall bathrooms :-(

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Historic downtown facility with great location. Staff was friendly and helpful. The one working elevator didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Stairs worked nicely. Hallway bathrooms not so great. Overall experience and price was great but will seek another location next time staying in historic downtown. Other than a hostel, however, non-holiday price would probably be hard to beat. Recommended only if friend didn't mind sharing bathrooms with strangers.

Never Ever Stay Here

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: Located close to Santa Fe Depot
Cons: Everything else
I've stayed in plenty of budget hotels and hostels all over the world, and this hotel is the worst place I've ever stayed.. including in developing countries. There were a lot of shady people staying there, only one of the shared bathrooms was working on my floor and for the most part I didn't want to leave my room. I don't scare easily, but I didn't feel safe at this place at all.
