You pay what you get

Posted Jul 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The name of the hotel we booked was called Americas Best Value Inn Vista. When we arrived, the name of the hotel had been changed to Motel 6. Our GSP showed the right address but the name was changed without notice us. And, it suppose included the breakfast. Since it changed the ownership, it no longer offered breakfast. We required to find restaurant to eat. Besides, there is no hair dryer, no shampoo and not enough towels.

Now a motel 6

Posted Jul 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
I took all sorts of grief from my family on this one. My mother has a bias against motel 6 and when we booked this it was a Best Value Inn. As a result of switching to Motel 6 its costs went down but we already paid in advance at the previous higher price. This is a bare-bones hotel which appears to be undergoing significant construction. There is no breakfast, there are paint splatters on the lamp fixtures and there is an overall feeling of clutter around the property. On the plus side, the rooms are probably the biggest you will encounter in any Motel 6 nationwide. But their furnishings are scant at best with non-carpeted floors. There was only one chair in the room and no lamps by the beds. The pool was nice though. In short, this is clearly a hotel in transition. If you are looking for a decent, cheap hotel in Vista there aren't many choices. Wait and see if they come out on top when they are done with their changeover.

Under construction!

Posted Jun 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
First off, this is now a Motel 6 and they are under construction! Our room had a new queen sized bed and an old double. They had no clock or phone or kleenix box. They had something looking like a desk with no chair. The cabinet the TV was in was falling apart and there were outlets that we falling out of the wall. There was no "continental breakfast" that was supposed to be at America's Best Inn. So needless to say we were not very happy staying here - I don't know why Hotels.com did not notify us about this change in hotel. They said that this "change" happened 2 weeks ago - when I was booking this trip!

Now a Motel 6 & not recommended

Posted Jun 22, 2013
We didn't know until we arrived that this is now a Motel 6. Our room had just been painted (paint drips on furniture, shower curtain, etc.). Very strong paint fumes made our short stay very unpleasant. Phone hadn't been reconnected, no pictures on walls, no chair or desk or table or suitcase stand. Room obviously not ready for guests. I don't know what's standard for Motel 6, but there was also no coffee maker or hair dryer.

Disappointed Stay

Terrible - hotel changed hands to a Motel 8 ... terrible ... promises were broken ... spa was cemented in, heater cut off the pool, no more breakfast, no chair to sit on in room. Called Hotel.com and changed to another hotel

Now is Motel 6

Posted Jun 16, 2013
Pros: Nice location near the 78 Highway. Grounds will be nice when finished.
Cons: We should have been warned about the ongoing renovation work and the name change to Motel 6.
Location: Easy to get to Oceanside, LEGOLAND, etc but at the same time off the beaten track.
This hotel is in the middle of renovation. The grounds were not finished and things were a little messy. The pool was usable. Some workmen doing the room renovation were also staying there -- which is OK except some of their young kids and dogs were noisy at night.

Pros: location
Cons: quality of room, helpfulness of staff,
Location: located in vista near the 78 freeway. close to entertainment and food
I booked this hotel for my parent. They came from S. Carolina to visit because me wife and I had our 2nd child. The hotel looks fine enough from the outside but the room was bare except for a bed and a wall locker as a closet. They told me they were doing renovations which I understand but I asked for a desk and chairs to be placed in the room and accommodation weren't met. Other room including those that weren't yet sold had furniture that could have easily been moved. Also, the bathroom looked like it was rushed when it was cleaned and very little attention to detail was given. It wasn't disgusting but it could have been better presented. Last and best of all the last night my parents stayed there the police were out in full force trying to break into the room next to them. I'm thankful it was the last night I would have had to just loose the money and take them somewhere else. What made their stay bearable was the fact that most of the waking hours were spent with us at our apartment and not their.
