Did not enjoy our stay

Posted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: Great restaurants in the area
Cons: Everything
We booked a non-smoking king room, once we arrived at the hotel we were told there was only smoking kings available. We ended up in a non smoking queen. The photos on the web site are nothing like the room, the room smelled stale, the room is old and out dated, the bed was old and needs to be replace. The pool area was very uninviting and dirty.

Nice view

Posted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Informing about the construction would have been nice.
Location: The hotel was central to everything and driving was easy to get in and out of the freeway
The hotel was very clean, easy check in and the location was perfect. The breakfast was always hot and a great variety.

Great view

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: The only area we would have appreciated a heads up was on the renovation of the front of the hotel.
Location: Location is near so many attractions, Little Italy, The harbor, museums and plenty of restaurants.
Our stay at the hotel could not have been any better. From the initial call to the hotel for a shuttle, check in, questions about surrounding attractions, to check out, was smooth and seamless. The rooms, amenities, pool, hot tub and location were everything and more, we could have asked for. Our view of the harbor was breath taking and a pleasure to wake up to every morning.

Nice Downtown Hotel

Posted Mar 10, 2015
The hotel is close to the water front and offers free shuttle service from the airport which is a plus. Once the construction of the hotel is finished I am sure that it will offer a better stay because there were a few inconveniences because of the construction.

Nice Hotel Centrally Located For Getting Around

Posted Feb 28, 2015
Enjoyed our 5-night stay at this hotel. Was there with my 13 year old granddaughter. Found it very clean and comfortable. Nice to have the breakfast buffet in the morning and appreciated having the shuttle to and from airport. It was a quick walk to the Harbor and Little Italy. Only a couple of blocks from Santa Fe depot and transit stops if you want to use public transit, which we did to get to Sea World, Zoo and Balboa Park. Much cheaper than taking a taxi or renting a car. Had absolutely no problems getting where we wanted to be and staff were very helpful with directions when asked. Close enough to walk to downtown and Horton Plaza. Many good restaurants close by. Staff were always very helpful and friendly. Hotel was undergoing renovations but did not seem to be a problem for us except for a couple of days when we couldn't use the pool. I would definitely stay here again though! Only problem I have had was that I left my camera in the room. Thank you for the housekeeping staff for being so honest and turning it in; however, after a week, 3 emails and 2 phone calls I am still waiting for a response to the information I have provided for having it returned to me. After the service I received while staying at the hotel, I am surprised and disappointed.

Under Construction

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Nothing! Absolutely Nothing!!
Cons: Communication! Marketing! Advertising! Turn a negative experience in to a positive.
Location: Walk 2-3 blocks to the Santa Fe depot and take the trolley or busses... don't use the taxis. The trolley system takes you essentially everywhere.
Unaware that the hotel was under construction. Paid full price. Pool/s not available. (Moi) at front desk of Best Western Bayside Inn, San Diego, seemed shocked that we were unaware and walking in to a construction zone. Confirmed our shock via providing a copy our confirmation from Expedia. No communication of events in community, i.e. Fat Tuesday, by the hotel. Took 16 year old to Gas Lamp District only to discover everything had been shut down in preparation for Mardi Gras. Advanced warning by staff would have been helpful. Failure to communicate between the property and Expedia was evident and unacceptable. I will not be recommending Expedia or Best Western Bayside Inn, San Diego, to anyone unless this unfortunate college scouting trip can be turned around from a negative to a positive. I cancelled another property to stay here... only to find this out! Extremely dissatisfied Washingtonian.

Very nice hotel once lobby construction done

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Comfortable beds, very clean, balcony with each room and great customer service.
Cons: Lower rates with construction in lobby and front walkway.
Location: Close to USS Midway, ocean and half mile from the gaslamp district. Many things in walking distance.
Best Western is a reliable hotel. I had good customer service. The front entrance and lobby were filled with construction and initially was disappointed. First room was a smoking room and they were unable to find a vacant non-smoking room the first night. The staff made up for it by allowing us to trade rooms the next night with no issue. Rooms and beds quite comfortable. I would stay with them again.
