Great hotel with beach view and close to town.Posted Feb 25, 2015
Walk to everything in Carlsbad, shops, restaurants, bars--also farmers market on Wednesday. Great beach view, nice pool, breakfast room/lounge/terrace with fabulous view. Friendly staff as well. Décor is a bit dated, bur the bed was very comfortable, room and bath are sizable, and microwave and fridge are a plus. Overall a great stay.

Somewhat of a letdownPosted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: Housekeeping people were great and very helpful. Ice machines only on first floor, me on third floor
Cons: They could change their advertising regarding the ocean view. They could also put ice machines on all three floors.
Location: Located in Carlsbad, CA short drive into San Diego good restaurants in town
The hotel with a average, run of the mill Best Western like all we have used except it is across the street from the Pacific Ocean. When I made our reservation, I took a higher costing room because of three words in the description - Balcony, Ocean, and View. I was picturing myself sitting on my own balcony, sipping my drink and watching the ocean. When I checked in I found out that was not quite accurate. I had my own balcony and my drink but to see the ocean from my balcony, I had to sit right at the railing with my chair turned to the right and look thru the protective bars that were on the railing. When I stood up, I could see the ocean but not when I was sitting down. We were also disappointed with the breakfast. We have stayed at several of their hotels and had a great breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh waffles, and many other items. They did have packaged Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that were kept relatively warm but not just made. While we will be using Best Western again, we do not plan on coming back to this one.

Great location, comfortable room, helpful staffPosted Nov 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
Five night stay for a vacation getaway. We stayed at this hotel before their recent refurbishment and it was getting a bit long in the tooth. The appearance is very much improved. The rooms are the same size and configuration as before - which means they are a bit small by modern standards and our room configuration was a bit odd. The bed was wonderfully comfortabe. Hotel staff was unobtrusive and very helpful. Location is superb with the beach, shops and restaurants within a short walk. A few oddities with the maintenance - a bathroom light switch wouldn't work and they had no spare; the room safe wasn't bolted down and could be easily taken away in a duffel bag! Coffee is available at 7am in the breakfast lounge but not before - fortunately a 7-11 was less than a block away. But those were all minor annoyances in a trip that was extremely relaxing and comfortable. We will definitely stay there again.

Nice and CleanPosted Nov 10, 2014
Location: walk across the street to beach, walk to a lot of places to eat, from fast to cloth napkins
the room and staff were good. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast along with the ocean view of the eating room. The only gripe is when they say ocean view for your room it's really a hard right look from the balcony. Location was great, never needed to use car.

Room was good but we missed having a balcony. Some rooms did. The bathroom was odd and seemed a little dated. Tub and toilet were on one side and the sink and vanity on the other...but the location was perfect. It would have been nice if there were heaters on the deck so you could enjoy the evening hours on the deck. We would definitely go back.

Friendly staff, great location, nice & clean room, amazing beds...View of the ocean doesn't get much better from the deck!!! Breakfast was so, so......Quiet rooms. Within walking distance to most anything you might want or need. Will stay here again.

Carlsbad 2014Posted Oct 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had the deluxe king room in the front of the hotel. The view of the ocean would've been perfect, except there is a tree right in front of the only window and it blocks the view. This room is also located off the patio where everyone gets up early to have breakfast. Not a good room to stay in if you want to get any sleep. The frat boys stayed up until at least 3am and the breakfast crowd rolled in about 7am...oh yeah and the cyclists start about 6am and you can hear everything. Great location though!
