Nice location; comfortable atmosphere

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: Location and views.
Cons: free parking,
Enjoyed the location the most of this hotel. The pool areas were nice and the balcony off the room was appreciated when the kids went to bed. The rooms were sufficient and clean. We stayed in the Casa Marina building and I felt a bit removed from the atmosphere of the main hotel. I disagree with having to pay $10 per night for parking when there seemed to be ample parking spaces on the hotel property.

A nice getaway

Posted Apr 14, 2015
I've been coming here off and on for the last 10 years. This is truly one of the best places to stay in SD, if your looking for a relaxing, hanging out at the pool type of place. Just drop the $10.00 a night for parking...

An accessible retreat

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Location; service & personnel; upkeep; accessibility; comfort
Cons: The internet connection was painfully slow & intermittent to the point it was difficult simply to send an e-mail or post a photo.
Location: Hotel is located across a bay from USS Midway & within a few miles of shopping and other San Diego attractions. Own transportation recommended.
This felt more like a small apartment than hotel room, with all of the comforts of home within easy reach. While the building we were in was dated (there are newer ones on the same property), everything inside & out was clean and well-maintained. Our room (#133) had a private patio overlooking the marina. As the last unit, we had no traffic in front of our door, but did have a pathway at the back, behind a hedge, and we were next to the pool resulting in some noise while kids were swimming. Apart from that, it was a serene location. As an accessible room, we could ask for nothing more. Both the living & bedroom were roomy and the tub, while small, was easy to get in & out of with grab bars in just the right places. The counter space in the bathroom was more than adequate and the sink easy to use. The bed was large & comfortable with plenty of big, fluffy pillows. Staff here is accommodating, as well. We booked online but had to call to confirm our room would be accessible; the staff we spoke to took care of everything and even suggested the room we stayed in as it had a patio & pool.

Loved the location near the marina.

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Location and marina.
Cons: Get better frying pans, pullout bed and lower chairs so one can pull out the shutters more easily.
Location: Walking, ship and boat, and people watching.
Overall, a wonderful experience! Just a couple small things though...the frying pan was of poor quality causing things to burn and the pull out queen sized bed was rather lumpy. We had to move the furniture in order to fully open the shutters. BUT it was still such a lovely and enjoyable place to be at. Would be back.

Great hotel on Shelter Island

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: Location, pools, patio rooms.
Cons: Rooms could do with some modernisation but don't let this put you off visiting.
Location: Easy drive north to beaches and Sea World and east to downtown and old town. San Diego trolley stops there.
Great hotel in nice peaceful location with good access to everything in San Diego. We had marina side rooms which were very quiet and had a small patio area. A ten minute walk to Scott Street where there are plenty of restaurants. Onsite bar and two pools.

Beautiful views and excellent location

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Location, room and ammenities.
Cons: A refridgerator would be a nice addition to the standard king room.
Location: Very close to beaches and Sea World!
We headed to San Diego and unwind and relax and picked this hotel based upon its location... we loved every moment of our stay. The staff was very pleasant, the room was amazing and ammenities were astounding.

Nice, quite, ample parking and friendly staff.

Our family of four stayed here over the Easter Weekend. Room was a tad bit small, but we made it work. Both side of hotel have nice views. One side is the boat docks and the other the beach and pier. They have two pools with plenty of chairs and tables. Staff was friendly and courteous.
