Nice hotel close to the beach!

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: Closeness to the beach and rooftop deck!
Cons: Decor and sound from other rooms.
Location: Location is perfect! 2 blocks from the beach. Can walk to several local restaurants. Many other choices within a couple of miles drive.
Hotel is older, but has a fantastic rooftop deck! Great for watching sunsets! Close to lots of local fair. We did a great deal of walking to various places. Short drive to other beach towns. Room decor is a little strange, but really only slept and showered in the room so not an issue. Can hear other room noise some. Also not an issue. Train runs between the beach and the hotel, apprx every hour. It runs less frequently at night, but you can hear it. They are planning a remodel, so the previous issues listed may be fixed. Stayed here to be away from the noisiness of spring break and young children. Nice light continental breakfast every morning. We will stay here again!

Funky cool beach pad.

Looks like some rooms have been upgraded, but ours had ancient carpeting and weird stuff like the leg of the hide-a-bed sticking out. But the roof garden with hot tub are awesome and the location right across the street from San Elijo State Park in the heart of funky Cardiff can't be beat.

Pros: see above
Cons: Rooms a little tired perhaps but quite adequate for our purposes and in price range
Location: Cardiff is quiet and laidback but all facilities nearby. Excellent nature reserve very close.
Competent and friendly staff. Room comfortable and fairly spacious. Quiet stay in our off-road room. Room well cleaned. Nice roof-top area for relaxing. Breakfast adequate. Choice of local eateries and excellent food store. Stayed 6 nights and overll well-pleased pleased with the choice.

Pros: Excellent location...friendly, informative, enjoyable staff!
Location: The inn is just steps to the beautiful beach...you can view beautiful sunsets from the rooftop...excellent local restaurant just down the street.
Had a wonderful two week stay in Cardiff by the Sea....Beautiful beach just across the street...Friendly, accommodating staff who were helpful and engaging. The inn was quaint and comfortable, with nice rooms and a relaxed, home-like atmosphere. All of the staff were efficient, helpful and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Great location to beach and some shops.

Pros: Close to beach. Beautiful sunset over the ocean, nice roof top patio. Staff people are very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast offering.
Cons: Hotel needs a bit of a face lift. Rooms are nice but out dated.
Location: One block from the beach. Nice Italian restaurant a half a block away.
This was a work related stay for just 1 night so it was very brief. Nice and quiet at night!

Will stay at this great hotel again!

My wife and I loved staying three nights at Cardiff by the Sea Lodge. It's located a short walk from the ocean, and there are many fine restaurants in the area that have excellent entrées for lunch and dinner. Our room was beautifully decorated and exceptionally large. The staff is exceptionally efficient and courteous and we really appreciated the attention that Brooklyn, Kaitlyn, and to Chris gave to us during our stay. I guarantee that we will stay at the Cardiff by the Sea Lodge again the next time we are in the area.

Unique...but dated

Posted Feb 12, 2015
Pros: The staff and unique, quirky decor and setup.
Cons: The room I stayed in looks like it had been decorated around 1982 with lots of mirrors at weird angles. The furniture should be donated to Goodwill.
Location: 1 block away from the beach! Lots of little cafes and stores nearby. Easy access from Hwy 1. Minutes away from other small and quaint beach towns.
These are obviously rooms for lovers and honeymooners, and they are seriously in need of some MAJOR updating. All rooms have a name and mine was "Reflections". I felt like I was in a house of mirrors - kinda creepy. The round bed was bizarre feature that I could have done without. But the staff was super friendly and the view from the roof balcony was pretty sweet. I'd stay there again.
