It was wonderful! Cute little place! Not on the sea, contrary to its name, but still very nice hotel!

Great location - Outside corridors

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Quiet room & grounds. Location...location...location. Room service from TGIF
Cons: This is an older property and in need of some repairs, like the security gate I mentioned.
Location: outlet shopping, ice cream, many different restaurants.
We stayed at this facility for a few days. If I had realized it was outside corridors, we would not have booked there. I do not remember seeing it in the photos or the listing. Our room was surprisingly quiet. The key card access gate was broken :( This is a terrific location though. Close to the beach with a lot of restaurants and desirable shopping. Breakfast was not great, but better than nothing. I would stay here again provided the price was no higher than what I paid this time.

Great hotel, great location

Posted Dec 8, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness. Close to swim meet and so many places to eat. The kids had their choice of some healthy food.
Cons: Maybe ask for license plates. Someones car alarm started going off, waking everyone and the security guard had a hard time finding who it belonged to.
Location: Close to many good restaurants and a fantastic area.
We were there 2 nights for a swim meet. Everything was very nice. Traveling to swim meets we have to be conservative but these rooms and this hotel is definitely 5 star.

Place in need of updating.

Posted Dec 7, 2014
Stayed one night for a quick rest. Expected it to be a little better class. Appearance looks comparable to an older motel 6. Room was ok, buffet was under par. I've had better buffets at the Hyatt Place, chose this hotel because it was closer to fwy entrance. Probably will not repeat.

Great location, tired property

Posted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: We enjoyed the outdoor balcony and there was a better than average selection of items at the free breakfast.
Cons: New beds, bedding, and greater attention to airing out the rooms may help.
Location: Location was great for freeway access. Outlet mall right across the street. Our room was on the quiet side of the building (not facing the freeway).
Friendly and caring staff are doing the best they can in running a tired property. The paradox of staying in hotels is that you know many people have stayed in the same room as yours before you but you don't want any evidence that they've been there! In our case, we could smell the lingering scent of heavy after shave or perfume which permeated the room. This made us question whether the room was really clean - even though it appeared to be. Old bedding and bed also contributed to the "less than comfortable" feeling of the room.

Pros: clean, courteous staff & free hot breakfast
Cons: color of hotel (greyish blue) maybe something more brighter like a sandy tan color
Location: great location, legoland for kids, shops, gas stations, restaurants
We had a wonderful experience, I would stay here again

Gem of Carlsbad

Posted Dec 2, 2014
Located right across the street to Carlsbad premium outlet. 5min drive to Legoland. Free complimentary shuttle to Legoland as well. Room cleanliness and comfort are way above expectation. Breakfast are pretty decent with cereal, omelette, sausages, bread n muffin. Nice pool though we didn't use it as it was cold during our time of visit. Only shortcoming is that we have to carry our luggages up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Laundry room in the motel perimeter. For the price I paid, truly a "Gem in Carlsbad". Will only stay here if I visit San Diego again.

Rooms smell musty..but bed is comfy and clean. Bathroom is clean..but peeling paint and rusty areas near door. Refrigerator runs loudand Towels are comfy and clean. Breakfast is nothing to write home about. .staff was nice...hotel needs to be updated for sure..but location is great! And beach close.
