More of a motel feel, however......

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The amazing staff
Cons: Noise level! TV channels need an upgrade.
I travel to CA quite frequently, usually to Los Angeles, therefore was quite unfamiliar with San Diego County. However, had visited the beautiful historic town of Carlsbad on a couple of occasions, and fell in love with this rather small and quaint beach town/city. What afforded our stay to be outstanding were the staff. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST, MOST COURTEOUS and respectful staff possibly I've encountered, and I've resided at the Mondrian, W, Four Seasons etc.in LA. Despite this hotel having a tad motel feel as it's a slightly older property, our family could not have been happier and this was due to one fantastic body of staff. Absolute professionals from the start to finish of our 3 week stay, and I am planning a 31 day stay in 2015 solely based on the staff. NOTHING was too much trouble. In fact I had initially tried to reserve at a new downtown Oceanside Hotel, which effectively would have been less expensive, however, due to the length of our stay, could not accommodate our dates. I'm now very happy we spent our time at Carlsbad By The Sea. Rooms were quite basic, but very comfortable beds and lovely and clean. The only drawback, I paid a premium for a pool view, which was very pretty, in particular at night, unfortunately, some parents appeared to forget they were sharing the space and simply allowed their children to be extremely loud and did not always leave the pool at 10PM!!! Remember, Legoland is only a mile or so away. Aside from the noise level, had it not been fo

Hotel close to Legoland

For a three Starr hotel it is good. If you just need a place to sleep with decent price eg close to Legoland then it is perfect. But if you are looking for an actual resort to vacation with nice facility then I wouldn't recommend it. It was more like a nice motel rather than resort.

Terrible hotel.

This is worst than motel 6. I had to change my keys 3x and wifi didn't work. The hotel is not clean. The stairs look like they hadn't been swept in months. The staff is not even friendly.

Pros: This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the outlets , short drive to the town and beach. Very affordable and had a nice large pool.
Cons: This is an older hotel, but it is clean and has nice rooms.
Location: The location is great, you can walk to the outlets, the flower fields are also right across the way, 5 minute drive to the beach and town.
Great weekend away with my Mom. Fun place to spend shopping and relaxing. Many great outdoor restraunts.

NOT a resot... this is a MOTEL

I was so mad when I showed up to a motel when I booked a resort. If it was carlsbad motel it would be fine. The fact it is marketed as a "resort" is totally unacceptable. I will never stay here again!!!!

I was with my kids under 10 and my parents above 60. They all had fun. One day I drove the kids to legoland's waterpark and my parents walked to the outlets--both spent 10 mins only!!!!
