Subpar-- You get what you pay for

Ok if you don't mind minor discomforts, including dirty towels, scratched walls, and noise pollution. I would recommend you bring your own towels if you are gonna stay here. Also request a room closer to the core/center of the building.

Staff was very friendly and they offered a shuttle that went to gas lamp district.

Nice hotel

Our stay was for 3 nights. Hotel staff was friendly, no problems. Room was nice, what was shown in picture. Could not handle the mattress. Don't know if it was old, but felt like we were rolling into the middle of it...killed my back. Down comforter was nice, but a bit much to sleep with...between the two didn't get much sleep. Checked out a night early because of the mattress and toughed out the 4 hour drive home after a long day at the zoo. Had breakfast there at the hotel the first day. Our waitress was awful and $8 for JUST a waffle was robbery. Stayed on the 8th floor facing the street and outside noise was as if we were on a lower floor...no fault of the hotel though. My kids enjoyed the heated pool. Thought the washer/dryer on the floor level was great...didn't use it though. One last thing...house keeping needs better cleaning in the bathroom. I put a towel down on the bathroom floor to catch water from the shower and when I picked it up it had dust and dirt on it. Then I put a hand cloth over the drain in the tub to take a bath...when I picked that up it had a dirt/rust ring from the drain on it on all four folds...I didn't do anything that day to get dirty and considering a shower was taken that morning. But all in all the stay was fine, gone most of the time doing things though.

It's OK

Pros: Cheap, Hot tub is working, AC/heating is working, Staff is nice Cons: No hot water in the shower Wi-Fi didn't work in the room We had to wait for an hour at the airport for a shuttle to pick us up Location is quite far from the downtown

Nearby local beaches, venues, etc.Very clean nice staff. Great for the price. One happy customer.

Cons: Wi-Fi very weak on the 7th floor. Mentioned problem to hotel staff. Problem not corrected.
Only problem was with weak Wi-Fi signal. Unable to use smart phone.

Great hotel and service by staff.

Pros: Price, convenience, comfy room , free airport shuttle, pool, and the staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Cons: Street Lighting on 8th Street could be improved by the City, but it looked like they are working on it. Air Conditioning system is a little loud.
Location: The Clarion is located close to the trolley system. This system works great for getting to, from and around downtown San Diego and nearby attractions.
We had a wonderful stay, especially with how busy the hotel was with the Local air show. The Staff was very pleasant. When we checked in, Dora at the front desk was extra accommodating to help solve a matter for us (not any fault of the Hotel). The Room was very clean and the mattress was heavenly. Flat screen TVs, fridge, microwave etc. were all in great working order. Located reasonably close to the Trolley system, if you don’t mind a short walk. On the ride to the airport, the hotel shuttle driver was very pleasant, asked us about our stay and gave us ideas to visit the next time. We will definitely be back.
