“much better than i'd expected”

although it could use some redecorating (which they are in the process of doing), this hotel was way better than i'd expected. we even got an ocean view room, at an unlisted rate! the room was very comfy and the hot tub is HOT. staff was very pleasant and helpful, and the wifi worked great. although there's no fitness center on-site, they gave me a free pass to a very nice local gym that was just about a 5 minute drive away. I was very pleased.

“nice environment, old fashioned, needs refurbishment”

the hotel needs new furniture, the carpets are badly smelling, the rooms are too dark and old funriture is in the room. Garden very nice. Breakfast room terrible, plastic cups, plates and cutlery.

“Great Place”

Very clean, very quiet, good location. If you really need an ocean view, I recommend staying above the first floor. Pool and jacuzzi very nice...very clean.

“Vermin in hotel and moldy.”

There were pool renovations going on. The hotel doors were left open. I saw a rat in the hallway of the first floor one morning. When I told the desk person about it, she said, "We'll have to put a rat trap out." I suggested they close the doors. She said, " the workmen open them." My entire stay (3 days) the doors were left open more often than not even at nigh when the workmen weren't there. Also, the rooms and the hallways were moldy. I asked to have my room switched. They offered to change my room but told me this was a problem throughout the hotel due to climate.They suggested I turn my heat up high while I was out of the room. This seemed to help, I developed a chest infection. I have stayed at this hotel during the warm season and it was not so bad.

“Very cozy, I felt at home”

The hotel itself was fantastic, but do not expect much from the complimentary breakfast. They serve bagles, pastries, some fruits and all kinds of carbos, but no eggs! And for some reason, the fire alarm in my room kept beeping.

“Love this place!”

Clarion Carriage House has LOTS to recommend it, and I intend on spending a lot more time there when I can. Great people, great room. Location fab, people happy, and stay marvelous. My only suggestion is to please add no-fat yogurt and granola as selections for breakfast because the sticky sugary buns and what not don't call to me. Know, however, that there's plenty of fruit offered, which everybody eats! (or should anyway.)

“Our Pleasant Surprise in Del Mar, CA”

We were visiting the San Diego area and even though my cousin had sent me a list of San Diego hotels that were reasonable priced, I went onto Expedia and took a look for myself. The Clarion Del Mat Inn looked and sounded exactly like what I was looking for for my family's one-week stay. I booked the hotel immediately, figuring that a 15 - 20 minute drive each morning to get to what we wanted to see wouldn't be too bad. Much to our delight, the Del Mar inn was not only central to places and people we wanted to visit, but access to Rt 5 was just around the corner. It was perfect and the staff super-accomodating.

“Ocean view and great price!”

We came to Del Mar to go to the Circus de Soliel. We spent two days at this hotel. They were doing some renovations, a signed stated in the lobby, but we didn't notice any noise or construction. Room had a view of the ocean, balcony small but had two chairs and a small table. Staff was helpful and recommend two wonderful restaurants. We were disappointed in the complimentary breakfast, but other than that it was a lovely experience. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for the price.
