A stone's throw away...Posted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: Great location, great staff, nice beds and beautiful view
Cons: The breakfast 'nook'. It's organized chaos in there.
Location: SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Camp Pendleton
Everything about this hotel screams location location location. It's roughly 30 minutes from the furthest attraction (Legoland) and 10 minutes from everything else. You could roll out of bed, drag a comb across your head, and 10 minutes later, you're standing in line to buy tickets to the San Diego Zoo or SeaWorld. Let's not forget Balboa Park, the beach, all sorts of different places. It's almost a pain to get to however; the intersection to access the hotel is 3 or 4 'protected' right turns. Choose poorly and BAM! You're on the freeway, headed who knows where. Choose wisely and BAM! you've got a pretty good place to hang your hat. I liked this hotel. It had its...unique characteristics. Everyone is always picky about the condition of an elevator or whether there's painters tape holding up the room numbers. Who cares? The beds were soft, the sheets clean and smooth and they have a pretty darn decent breakfast. Get there early, however. It quickly turns into a zoo in itself and becomes difficult to serve yourself let alone your family. Aside from that, I enjoyed my stay there. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. I had a few cranky kiddos in tow from our exhaustive trip and one of the staff volunteered a few small stuffed animals to quiet them down. Worked like a charm.

Will not stay againPosted Mar 25, 2015
Hotel recently remodeled and fairly clean. That's all the good I can say. Walls are thin, so you hear everything going on next door to you. Pool and spa where not clean, actually disgustingly yellow. Breakfast food was strange. Eggs where a weird shade of yellow/tan (probably from powder) and apples and bananas did not look normal. After 1 breakfast there, we decided to go somewhere else the next morning, even though breakfast is included. Parking was $11 a night at time of our stay. I didn't expect this from this level of hotel. Probably have a better experience at the Motel 6 just down the road.

Great hotel, hidden fees.Posted Mar 18, 2015
Cons: Make the customer aware in the beginning that there will be a nightly parking fee.
Location: Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Old Town San Diego, Mormon Battalion Historic Site, USS Midway Carrier
The room was great. The continental breakfasts were good. My only issue with this hotel was the nightly parking fee. We were not expecting it. I just wish we could have learned about it while booking.
