Inexpensive hotel, get what you pay for

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Booked this hotel to attend a wedding and a weekend getaway without kids. The hotel was inexpensive and on Coronado which we wanted. It is walking distance to some shops and great restaurants which was convenient. The rooms are very small and old with old carpet, mildewed showers and tile. The bed was horrible - hard and very squeaky. Liked the microwave and fridge in the room. We were able to overlook aesthetics but the hotel is located in the main road/freeway which is very busy and LOUD for a good portion of the day and evening. The worst part was how loud the housekeeping staff were... That were talking loudly & laughing for hours out front of the rooms while cleaning in the morning. On our weekend getaway we really wanted to rest & sleep in but couldn't due the loud staff, street noise, the loud sound if the old pipes and the uncomfortable bed. Next time I will pay a little more to stay somewhere nicer. We are always willing to overlook aesthetics for a good price but not when the room is so uncomfortable in a loud location & have inconsiderate housekeeping to top it off.

Hotel on very busy road!!!

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Morning traffic woke us up ! A large volume of cars stopping at light at the hotel from 6-10am. Then they go like crazy when the light changes! The staff were wonderful, our room was clean except for mold in shower. Only queen size beds in all rooms. The price is the least expensive on Coronado island. If you can put up with road noise it is a nice stay .

Gets to the point.

Liked the room. It was just right and got to the point. However, the hotel is facing the busy street of incoming traffic to the island..... very noisy. Brought ear plugs so it was ok. I didn't mind walking everywhere and leaving my car at the hotel (parking is scarce).

Good location for walking around Coronado. Everything is close enough to walk to in less than 39 minutes.

On Coronado, but hotel is old and worn out.

Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: Its on Coronado
Cons: Everything.
Location: Right on Orange Ave and 4th. High traffic area, but its on the Island.
This hotel is old and worn out. Internet, phones do not work. This place needs a bulldozer.

Excellent price for a beautiful/comfortable room

Posted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Nice staff, easy access to the bus stops, Ferry area, Coronado Beach etc. There was free breakfast in the morning.
Location: Tons of shops, restaurants, and things to do on both end of the island. I personally enjoyed the Ferry side a bit more than the Coronado Beach side.
We were greeted by a very very sweet receptionist, (didn't get his name, but he had a tattoo of a cross on his arm), and answered all of me and my friend's questions about things to do in Coronado. The room we had was two full size beds with a stand up shower in our bathroom. The room wasn't spacious as most hotel rooms might be, but it was clean and totally livable for the weekend. Definitely good for those with a budget (or without a budget, and just want to save!). I'm not sure why this hotel has negative views, but the hotel room I was in was definitely comfy!

HBO pamphlet but no HBO

Posted Sep 1, 2013
Room phone wasn't even connected to the front desk, no hot water in the kitchen sink, I found a mysterious piece of body hair on the sheets that wasn't mine. There was an HBO booklet in the room but no HBO. Breakfast was bagels, fruit, packaged danishes that are the leading cause for diabetes, coffee or Tang (orange juice). But the hotel does provide free water bottles!! If you need a place to sleep its perfect but overpriced.

Avoid this place

Pros: The convenience to Coronado dog beach.
Cons: Everything
Location: Coronado is a fantastic little town with great shops, places to eat and a beautiful beach hat allows dogs at the end of it.
Firstly it completely inconvenient to get to and minimal parking for starters. Its located on the corner of a busy intersection making it hard to get in and out of.You have to check in on the adjacent corner so I suggest walking cause driving there is a hastle. Once you check in and get to your room it's tiny. The bed was beyond broken down and felt like you were laying on a bag of potatoes. The a/c unit is on the wall 6" from your face so if you use that you'll freeze. The ceiling fan squeezed when you turn it on, so it stayed off. I placed my backpack on the table and it collapsed so I propted it back up. When you try to sleep in the hot room (no ac no fan) the traffic will keep you up. If your on the ground level the people above you will keep you awake just from walking around or using the shower etc. at 8:30am expect house keeping to knock on your door. If you tell them 'no' they'll be back at 9:30 then 10:30. I was happy to only be tree one night but the cost of that room for a night was insane. I'll never stay here again. I'd rather pay less and stay further away.

Loud and Bright and not in a good way!

Posted Jun 18, 2013
Pros: Location-Kitchen
Cons: Parking, Maintenance on the inside and out.
First off when I pulled into the Hotel and checked in they told me my room was across the street at their "sister hotel." The parking across the street was difficult because traffic on the island has a lot of one way streets. The receptionist did offer to let me park there and and walk myself and belongings across the street. No bell hop here. My room was located right off the main street with my windows facing traffic so it was loud. The room door has a window and at night the outside light shines directly on the bed. I had to take a towel and try to cover the light. It does have a kitchen which is nice but you can't cook because the stove does not work. When I left the next day I asked for maid service which never came. The Hotel is really run down and it shows. They did offer continental breakfast which was minimal. The one good thing I can say is it's located close to shops and dinning.

Nice hotel on Coronado Island and pet friendly

Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: Pet friendly, great location, and friendly staff
Cons: Office is across the street
Location: Great location -- right on Orange Ave with shops and restaurants going left or right. Easy to get anywhere here or in San Diego.
Quaint little hotel with a nice location on Coronado Island. Go east or west on Orange to shops and restaurants. Staff was very helpful. Helped get us through an extended stay.
