hotel amenities lacking

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Close to tram to go to convention center and very close to Old Town
Cons: Fix the elevator. Free coffee downstairs, come on.
Location: Old Town and the tram
The hotel café was mediocre and completely over priced. The hotel should have at least a continental breakfast. The hotel has coffee in the lobby but you have to pay 2.00 for a cup. That's ridiculous!! The air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived. I advised the staff who suggested we wait to see if it "kicks in" . We came back later and it still wasn't working . The repair person couldn't fix it so we were moved to another room. We should have been comped but all I received was free garage parking. Fix the elevator please. Very noisy and slow.

Adequate hotel close to airport

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Very friendly staff and proximity to airport and early shuttle service
Cons: Condition of facilities
Location: Old town was within walking distance and very fun to walk through
Very friendly staff. Very old facility. Free shuttle to airport. Swimming pool was very small and shaded by surrounding buildings. Our battery on the thermostat needed changing.

Room layout is horrible!

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Room cleanliness was okay and it was close to our wedding venue.
Cons: Garage cleanliness, room layout, elevator operation, add "Do not disturb" signs in the rooms
Location: Located in Old Town and has numerous little shops and restaurants nearby. Freeway access is also close (not always a good thing)
I have to say that I'm usually skeptical about staying in hotels rated less than 4 stars and now I know why. First of all, the room itself was pretty clean, I'm grateful for that. However it had just about the worst layout I've ever seen. If someone was standing outside the restroom door at the sink, they run the risk of being smacked by the door when anyone else comes out of the restroom. The closet opposite the sink was so small, there is no way you can actually hang clothes in there and shut the door at the same time. Even with the air on, the room felt extremely humid at times. I'm not sure why. The elevator stops at EVERY floor, regardless of whether there are people on that floor or not, which in turn causes it to take FOREVER. They charge $15 per night for parking in their 3 garages. The garages are EXTREMELY small and the spaces themselves are also very small. You'll be lucky to even find a place to park. I would also suggest they clean up the garages periodically as they were extremely junky with trash overflowing. They have no "Do not disturb" signs to place on the door, so one of the mornings we were there, housekeeping comes knocking on our door at 9 am. We had a late night and were trying to sleep in a little, but she wouldn't stop knocking until I got up to answer the door to let her know we didn't need anything! On the plus side, check in was very quick. Would I stay here again? Not on your life. I've learned my lesson staying at a 3 star hotel. Never again.

Hotel was close to most activities.

Room window next to freeway. Sleeping was difficult due the the traffic noise. Walls were thin and could hear others.

Seattelites visit Old Town SD

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: The modern ambience and relaxed feeling of this hotel in close proximity to Old Town.
Cons: improve the main lobby's elevator performance "somehow"
Location: As I said, "not too close, yet not too far away" from the Old Town strip. Walking distance to the hub yet you don't have to deal with drunksters
This very nice Courtyard was in a great location. "Not too close, yet not too far away" from Old Town's small strip and hub of activity. The hotel's modern ambience is very pleasant overall with rooms comfortably decked. Our room happened to be on the side of the hotel that faced the I-5 Interstate Freeway only two blocks away and the ONLY drawback of the hotel is the constact highway noise experienced by guests on that side of the hotel. But it was quiet enough to sleep through. the most valuable part of our hotel stay there was the excellent and responsive staff. The front desk staff were efficient, fast and accurate in check-in and they responded to my inquires about thermostat adjustment help from the maintenance crew and other small questions I asked of them about the hotel. The Bistro in the lobby area was awesome for both breakfast and evening cocktails. The one last small observation numerous guest mentioned was how SLOW and small the main elevator is for the hotel lobby. It would not be so bad if there were STAIRS as an option to go up/down the hotel since it is only five (5) floors tall.

Previous stay was quite nice.

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: Location close to Old Town.
Cons: Staff should be more attentive to cleanliness of property. Front desk staff could be friendlier too.
Location: Right off I-5 Freeway, easy access and close to Old Town San Diego.
Upon checking in, the restroom light was flickering so I reported to front desk. After about 1/2 hour, maintenance man arrived. He had to completely remove light assembly and after about 20 minutes repaired the light. There was debris from removing the light fixture on the floor directly beneath the light location. Instead of cleaning or arranging for housekeeping, the maintenance man brushed the particles away towards the wall and left. Not knowing if there was any broken glass, I had to call the front desk again asking for a clean up. In addition, the swimming pool sides were filthy. A decrease in cleanliness compared to our previous stay at the same hotel. Doubtful if we'll return.
