Right on the beach!

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: New up graded rooms, no carpet! yea.
Cons: Add some more ways to hang clothes or places to set your baggage down on.
This was a nice get-away place, close to the beach, but also some of the best dining in San Diego. Del Mar, a short walk up the hill, offers a great variety of dining options a fairly reasonable prices. Hit the combined brueggers and starbucks and mix and match breakfast. Hike back to the ocean- over- looking park, take a bench by the cliff and watch the surfers enjoy the waves, while you savor breakfast. The sun coming up over the hills is amazing! Then walk off the calories on the pure white sandy beach.

Throwback on the ocean

Posted Nov 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
A throwback hotel at the beach. Steps from the ocean and a very nice hotel. This was like the hotels you see in the movies so it is weathered (old style) but very clean and nice. I would highly recommend it and will stay again!

Room with a view

Posted Nov 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
I enjoyed it very much, what a great spot to sit and have a coffee and look at the ocean. Watch surfers, dolphin's, seals. Want to go back soon. 6 hr drive from AZ. The way I drive anyway. Its well worth it

Not so good

Posted Nov 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
Rude when i came in right off the bat. Then at 10pm i was just talking in my room with the tv on, when all of a sudden i got a knock at the door saying that i needed to keep it down. The front desk said he was standing outside and he could not hear anything but keep it down and he didnt want to hear my reasoning why i wanted to be able to talk in my room. I dont go on vacation to not even be able to talk to watch tv after 9pm.

Much improved over last time..recommend.

Pros: On the beach
I have stayed here several times over the past few years, because it is in such a nice location right on the beach at Del Mar. Last time I had a poor experience with noise, dilapidated facilities, and excess billing at checkout due to the payment though Expedia not covering everything. This time it was much improved and I enjoyed the stay - the check-in was quick, the room was very clean with new carpet, the wifi was easy to access and fast, and the bed was comfortable. Basically most of the issues from the previous visits seem to be being resolved, and I would certainly go back there based on this visit. This is still a fairly basic beach-side motel, but is in a terrific spot, and there is a restaurant/bar next door that is pretty nice, and you can hear the waves breaking when you are in bed!

Great Location

Posted Oct 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was about what I expected. However, I did not have hot water for the three days that I was there. I talked to the front desk about it - but it did not get fixed.

Beware of the non-stop TRAIN!!!!!!!

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: It is a great location right on the beach and you can walk to town to eat dinner or for breakfast which is so nice, just don't expect to sleep or slee
Cons: New beds, flat screen TV's, new pillows and provide ear plugs
The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable, we were aching all over half way through the night. And if that wasn't enough to keep you up then the train coming through every 2 hours would do the trick. We were eating advil like it was candy. To qualify, neither of us ever have back or neck pain. We work out regularly and eat healthy. The pillows are like a bunch of balls of stuffing crammed in a bag. I don't even know how to explain the bed. When you lay on it you wouldn't know it was your worst enemy, it kind of sneaks up on you through the night. If you dare to stay, bring a pad and sleep on the floor with your own pillow and ear plugs or drink heavily. That might do the trick.

The only reason to stay here is the ocean

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: updated rooms, comfortable, though could use microwaves, No in-room information about local dining or occurring events.
Location: ability to walk into town to find some inexpensive meals
The outside deck was closed for staining. There was the availability of chairs and umbrellas to be used, nice!

Location is what counts

Posted Sep 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
It was a simple, no frills stay. They did have a fridge unlike a fancier place I stayed in downtown San Diego. A microwave would have been awesome, as I would have liked to reheat leftovers. But really, i'd totally stay here again. You can't beat the location with a really awesome restaurant 2 buildings down. It's clean, and its RIGHT on the beach.
